I use some painters tape on my wrenches to prevent scratching AN fittings. It's not too thick as to ruin tolerances, and it comes off easy when you're done.

Electrical tape or plumbers Teflon tape also do well 👍

You probably already know this Tom but a good idea for keeping your fittings looking like new is using tape on your wrenches. Seen it on a episode of Finnegans Garage, been a long time subscriber keep up the good videos.

My go to for AN fittings is the next size bigger wrench and a few strips of electrical tape. Also works great to cover sockets on expensive wheels you don't want to scratch.

Dude I'm working on a project, picked up a 2004 volvo c70 for 500 bucks , found it on let go ,had a blown motor , pulled it out a car today from Pull a Part for 150 bucks, wish me luck !!

Don't have an AN wrench? Just wrap the ends of your open ended wrenches in duct tape/gaff tape or similar. Use the next size up if you have to.

Get some kapton tape to wrap around the wrench jaws for AN fittings. It's really thin and reasonably durable.

The 2 shorter oil pan bolts should not be mixed with the smaller ones, the longer ones will make a groove in your timing belt, if they are used in place of the shorter ones, I have seen this on a few different 4G63T motors.

love the vids, brotha! you could have wrapped tape around your end wrench for that AN fitting. if it's too tight, get the next size up and put more tape, ya know?

I love the attention to detail during the engine and trans removal. I have been practicing your techniques and they really help when I put things back together. Oh one more thing, bromance : )

Two layers of packing tape (the cheapo thin type) do just fine with a slightly bell ended wrench on those fittings. Never had a scratch.

You can use electrical tape or masking tape or plumbers Teflon tape to prevent scratching anodized alu with tools. Put the tape on the part or the tool or both.

If you don't have a Nana handy use a broom handle to hold one end of the bonnet (hood) up while you undo the other side. :-)

I made the mistake of putting those longer oil pan bolts there and it chewed up my timing belt live and learn I guess LOL
