Hello Everyone! Hope you're all doing well. 👍I just thought I'd let you know that I'm going to take a week's break, as the last few weeks in particular have been very hectic on my channel, and I don't want to risk putting out content for the sake of quantity rather than quality. Sorry about that but I hope you understand. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the video. 😀👍

While the Cape Town Formula E circuit is better, this one is still better than the Beijing Street Circuit that A1GP used. Formula E could’ve put on a better show around that track, but not by much.

Instead of 90 Degrees, you could substitute that with other angle measurement systems, such as 100 Gradians, or pi/2 radians.

quite possibly the street circuit of all time

Nice series! I love your videos. For a street track failure I'd recommend Potrero de los Funes. It's a track that almost everyone loved. I say almost because the locals had to go to court, and defeat the province there, to stop using the place because of noise and location polution

I love the weekly TyDye 90 Degree Corner counter. Cheers, mate, keep up the good work, you're doing great work documenting a lot of forgotten or not often spoken about tracks in this series that are very difficult to find any evidence of ever existing besides on paper sometimes. Especially some of the tracks from the 80s and early 90s.

I watched that first ever Formula E race and honestly the only thing I remember is those final moments with the crash, and Di Grassi being the unhappiest race winner I've ever seen. The track is honestly very mid.

Ignore everyone who suggests Macau. Because then you would have to do Monaco as well.

If it weren't for those nauseating chicanes, this track would be pretty similar in character to the Sydney Olympic Park circuit. Now that I think about it, there's quite a number of street circuits situated in Olympic parks...
@kierancobley53569 ай бұрын
I know it’s not exactly a fantastic circuit but if formula e did some sort of anniversary series in the future (say 20th or 25th) made up of tracks/races that comprise a history/greatest hits of formula e I wouldn’t be opposed to them using this circuit for the first race of that season

This is just about the right amount of 90° turns.

The good thing that Beijing had was that, unlike so many others *cough Battersea Park*, there was a decent amount of width, allowing for more opportunities for potential overtakes/fake overtakes/side-by-side action, which helped the overall racing in what was, at the time, a new formula with new cars that had new characteristics that needed to be explored and fine-tuned... as well as the circuits themselves.
@DanielHarveyDyer9 ай бұрын
It does feel a lot like the designed a perfectly normal street track on good wide roads, and then the engineers said "wait, a Formula E car can only go 400m before it needs to brake or the battery dies" and they had to scramble in a load of chicanes.
@MRTransportVideos9 ай бұрын
With the 1st Gen car, there may well have been a "better safe than sorry" element in the track design (that said, there were circuits with decent straights), but Gen 3 negated that need quite considerably, leading to the use of Full Monaco and Partial Mexico City (for instance), and the latest update, which brings in 'refuelling', should negate that still further - there is still the safety aspect of having cars travelling at 270kph on streets, so the need for chicanes wil remain, but hopefully they'll be able to find Cities with a more flowing road system AND make more use of Road courses.

What a strange track I'm not going to rate it too highly but it's weird how they kinda did about as much as they could only having two corner types And it highlights the nature of chicanes They ARE all "just chicanes" but they drive slightly different from one another despite looking just about the same

I swear to god, this has to be one of the worst ever tracks. Period. A lot of flicks to break speed because the cars couldn't handle it, no corners that are not 90°, a driver that should've been DSQ'd but wasn't because of his last name (although the circuit can't do much about that, can it)... not creative at all and thank god gone. Btw @TyDye what do you think of the 2024 Formula E season opener? :)

These circuits are exactly why I have no time for Formula E - completely mickey mouse for the most part. I'd be interested if they raced on real racetracks , even shorter ones , rather than these circuits.

Beijing has been tipped to host a second F1 race in China. Team bosses and F1 apparently really wanted this race. This layout without the Mickey Mouses chincanes, and 2.5 km longer, would perhaps be appropriate to host F1. They would have to find a better position for the Pit Lane and Paddock. But yes, with China returning to F1 this year, Beijing, and this same location, could be a strong candidate to host F1.
