I grew up in Coral Gables and Tamiami was one of the places we played baseball. There were about 20 bb diamonds and the same tennis courts. Then in mid 80s they built this thing through the park. We would later ride bikes on it, they had put in huge speeds bumps. Anyway, it was long ago.

The racing was decent, and it was fun having many other races going on as well. Coupled with being in downtown makes it a special event. Moving it to a circle track 45min away from downtown turns it into just another race not worth going to. It isn’t like the speedway has a long history like Indy. They also changed who was in charge of everything. With the road course they were organized from the beginning and had clear good ticket packages and add ons. Now, with the speedway it was a months long delay of no information. Then when tickets became available it wasn’t clear what package had what and they didn’t release everything at once. It is all disorganized along with being even more expensive than it was before. They also seem to be struggling selling tickets because I keep getting more emails about deals to try and get me to buy tickets.

As a native Michigander the Michigan M should be actually dubbed the the Mejier M as that is a Famously Michigan company that was founded in Grand Rapids. Also I am shocked at myself for living in Grand Rapids at that time and not knowing that this event ever happened.

I always wondered why they put Vautier in the Huertas car instead of just putting Davidson in it. Since Davidson didn't qualify either car, he was going to have to go to the back anyway. Since Vautier qualified the 19 car, I think he could have kept the position he qualified for.

Born and raised in Niagara Falls. A few years ago I found a framed Niagara Falls Grand Prix poster on Marketplace with an original ticket. I have it hanging on the wall in my office now. Such a unique piece that will be forgotten with time.

I grew up in Niagara Falls, and was born in 1988. Had zero clue this ever happened there. Never seen an old newspaper clipping, sign, or any sort of memorabilia from these races. I'd love to know what streets and parking lots were used for the circuit, knowing the area quite well spending 35 or so years there.

I mean it’s cool and interesting to see all these street courses that have run with some form of motorsports whether it’d be something everyone has heard or known about or ones nobody’s ever seen or heard aside from those who’ve been there or have watched said race and why they all stopped racing there. Especially in a time with a ton of street courses being run at some point whether they’re good or bad from F1, IndyCar, NASCAR, IMSA, etc. and ya occasionally get that one person when a former street circuit is mentioned and they’re like “ha street circuit closed down cause all street races r bad lmao” when there’s more to it and after some has brought around 100,000 fans. Which honestly a comment like that I feel like is more from angy Facebook boomer NASCAR “fans” just being salty that the Cup Series doesn’t race at (insert random asphalt or dirt short track in the middle of nowhere that people barely know about and can’t hold more than 8,000 people) and just use any excuse why the Chicago Street Course shouldn’t exist.

Made it till the end, this was painful. At what point does one say enough is enough? Also how did they make the money to keep running again and again? I'm guessing there wasn't some big queue of sponsors waiting outside their door.

Maybe they can use the top 10 US Drivers from Nascar to PAIR with the top 10 AUST Drivers in a 60 LAP RACE with Changes to Drivers and all that stuff.????

As a romanian idk if i should be proud that we did have an lmp1 team at some point or ashamed that it was a glorified lmp2.

I'm still baffled at the fact that they still somehow managed to find sponsors for YEARS despite the fact that their money would often go up in smoke (sometimes literally).

So couple things about early Kolles. Kolles had a major legal fight with Praga-Kodewa over the the original "Lotus" - I've a sheet of notes saved somewhere, but basically a magazine found a chassis plate which the team was hiding. And Kolles ran Audi R10's at LM, and didn't get a chance to again... Because he reportedly never paid Audi for the engines...
