That undertray assembly montage was epic! Amazing craftmanship. Not sure how anyone could criticize this build - as big a Barra and 1UZ fan as I am, and not normally so excited by pushrod V8's - I think this is still my favorite build from you in the last couple of years.

@@paultodd2375 Well, technically the fastest cars on the planet are rocket or jet propelled - but yeah, I'll not deny forced induction massive displacement pushrod engines are the way to go for maximum horsepower in ICE's - but let's face it, they just aren't very efficient or free revving compared to what you can get with a modern OHC setup - they have loads of other great attributes like how light and compact they are etc & I get why people love them though - I just love OHC for some reason I can't really explain.

@@Beer_Dad1975 OHC v8 are bigger than a pushrod engine especially across from cylinder to cylinder head they are wide compared to pushrod maybe true for inline four cylinder and six cylinder and what revs do you need for the street I’m lucky if my v8 sees 3000 RPM
@Beer_Dad1975Ай бұрын
@@paultodd2375 Yes, that's exactly what I stated - pushrod V8's are smaller and lighter, and generally have fewer wear points which are all good things - I'm no dissing pushrod engines at all - just saying I prefer a good OHC.

I would knock up a light alloy cover if you don't want the air tumbling in the tub, also, there's good info on the turbulence in the tub of a ute, and how a open or removed tail gate isn't optimal #fluid dynamics

@flamintasty if it's open it'll interfere with shoot mount.

An open or removed tailgate gives worse airflow through the bin than a closed tail gate A light cover would serve best, like Mullet #fluid dynamics

Really would have loved to have seen a couple of inch lip on the top side rear of the belly pan. If it did the unthinkable and did spit it guts out the bottom, and your traveling in a forward direction at speed, it could very easily spill oil over the back edge of the tray. What they have done is fine while it is stationary but it is unlikely to be needed when the car is stationary (unless it happened on the dyno). Also not fussed on the position of the ride height sensor. Yes it might have been a convenient location for mounting and wiring, but it does give you a hole towards the rear of the collection area. From a reading perspective it would be far more efficient somewhere near the radiator. But as usual the MPW guys have done excellent work.
@STREETMACHINETVАй бұрын
The Laser ride height is supposed to be mounted near the front axle centreline. We might add an internal lip on the tray later
@DodgyBrothersEngineeringАй бұрын
@@STREETMACHINETV I could see reasoning for that as well. Putting it in front of the front wheels would give you a more travel movement sooner, but it also requires a sensor that is capable of reading on a bigger scale. Putting it behind the front wheels would give you a less responsive reading (subject to movement) but would be less inclined to factor in the shock travel. Yes it would depend on which the sensor prefers more. You couldn't mount it on the K frame to avoid needing a second hole in the bottom?
