Streets of Philadelphia Bruce Springsteen cover

Got this requested ,always find it hard when the original is mainly drums and synths.

My childhood home was in boxes after my parents' separation. My dad had left the country for work and my mother was stressed with all the details of moving, solo parenting, and grieving. My mother gave me the keys to the new house, let me rent my first R rated movie, and gave me snacks and sleeping bags so that my best friend and I could spend a night alone in that new house the week before we moved for keeps. VHS and big boxy tv on the floor, the light from the tv flickered in the big empty space and I spent my 14th birthday whispering to my friend my hopes for my life. For some reason out of all the new releases, we chose this movie. Sometimes I think about this song, that incredibly liminal moment in my life-- suspended in amber, in those flickering lights of the tv as this song played and I hovered between what I'd known and where I was going. Thanks for your cover Frank, it was lovely.

I had a teacher in high school who was probably around franks age and he brought his guitar to class pretty often and would plays songs related to what we were learning (it was a humanities class, we analyzed a lot of songs) and this brought me right to that, it was my favorite class of all time and I’m glad I got to feel like that again, thanks Frank.

What I love most about your covers and original songs is that you really tell a story with your songs. As an instrumentalist I see nothing wrong with music that's just groovy or made to dance to but there's a whole 'nother quality to storytelling in songform. Keep up the great work!
