And? I own a mega drive and I've played the original SoR not long ago, and it sounds very similar to this, the higher pitched sounds do sound better here due to less compression and bass is clearer specially when listened with a good subwoofer, but it doesn't take away any of Koshiro incredible accomplished with such a limited audio chip. The fact that the mega drive had a more metallic sounding chip compared to the SNES just makes me appreciate this master piece even more.

blindedby2monkeys I own a Genesis and it still sounds great on the original hardware. Have you ever listened to a real Genesis? Emulators can't emulate real Genesis sound.

Legendary soundtrack, along with the first. Mine just shipped and I can't wait to receive it. I was fortunate to meet the composer at MAGfest a few years ago, and got him to sign my copy of the game. If only I had this LP back then--I would've loved to get this signed instead.

Oh yeah it's fantastic, I was genuinely surprised how good the soundtrack is, it's seriously that good. I'd love to get a soundtrack signed, I was so close to getting the signed version of the Street Fighter set. A man can dream though

People often point out the snes soundchip has aged better than the genesis soundchip. I highly disagree. In most cases, the music from sega genesis games could easily be played in a night party or something similar, or sound like EDM style, and the synth sound is still being used in games nowadays. The snes soundchip could sound like real instruments, but as soon as we have cd quality music, the 16-bit samples just got pointless.

What would normally be a complicated answer is luckily made easy due to the good people at the /r/vgmvinyl subreddit! Basically there's a small handful of companies that are worth keeping an eye on and subscribing to their email newsletters for release info. Also I follow their Twitters and Instagrams as well Black Screen Records Brave Wave Data Discs Ghost Ramp iam8bit Ship to Shore PhonoCo. Are some labels you'd want to check out if you're interested, and also the video game vinyl subreddit as mentioned above at www.reddit.com/r/vgmvinyl

All of the tracks sounded really nice except "Spin on the Bridge". The drums are very muddied and it sounds like the amplitude was modulated linearly instead of logarithmically, which throws the whole grunge vibe off.
@Moechella4447 жыл бұрын
I think it's just because the track is too bassy for some of the lower end turntables. They probably had to EQ it down and it lost some of the grunge vibe you talk about.
@RandomInnVGMs6 жыл бұрын
GGigabiteM True, it sounds not as great as original track.
@Pow3rus8 жыл бұрын
Too bad we car hear coil whine from your pc
@vgmvinyl8 жыл бұрын
The USB picks up noise from the turntable so nice try. Any camera audio in the video is muted while the digital audio is dubbed over
@Pow3rus8 жыл бұрын
you mean the intense coil whine you can hear in the video after 0:09 is not from a PC? Mine does exactly this noise when graphic card is working hard that's why I thought..... Maybe I hear it only because I have great headphones
@vgmvinyl8 жыл бұрын
+Pow3rus I'm not good with words so I don't know how to explain it, but it's just the noise the turntable picks up. The USB recording isn't completely silent, but it doesn't have a mic or anything. It's just like a noise that sort of bleeds through
@Pow3rus8 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah it's the processor from the turntable of course. It had to have a processor to turn analog to digital.
@vgmvinyl8 жыл бұрын
+Pow3rus ah yes processor sounds more viable. It used to have a different sound when I used to record the rips on a laptop. The sound it makes now is marginally better...it would be weird if it was the laptop causing the recording to sound like that but that's all I can come up with since it hasn't sounded like that since I switched over to a better computer
