Its very cheap and hard. Its more fun with the invincibility code. The best part is the multiple paths so you have to play through the game 3 times to see all the levels. Decent replay value.

I prefer them as separate games but still loved fighting force but streets of rage is a lot better especially streets of rage remake but fighting force was different because it was 3d and I liked it because it was different and it had new ways to fight & like remake it had guns and had destructible environments and you could choose you're route like in SofR remake so without fighting force there might have not have been a remake

I don't care what anyone says. Fighting Force is a cool game. My only problem with it these days is that, you can't force it to work properly on modern systems. And i mean on Windows. Like, i'm on Windows 7 and this game either doesn't work at all, or work but always crashes after some time. Thus, the only way to play it would be via PS1 emulator. If only someone could fix it and force it work properly on modern systems, so that you can play the game without using any emulation.

Fact is that when game journalists bemoaned the same-ish appearance of new games when compared to older games, that is exactly what we want. We want games not to change too fast and become something we wouldn't even know whether it is still games or something alien. So still having beat'em ups today is very nice. But I think Sega really took the cake with game series like Shinobi, Streets of Rage and Golden Axe. Arcade style action games are always needed. Games that can be picked up any minuted and enjoyed instantly. I'm still missing real arcade style racing games. That is where developers are lacking behind.

I didn’t expect this to turn into a Fighting Force episode but I’m glad it did. In all honesty, I wouldn’t even link the two franchises together like you did Big Daddy Top Hat.. I get that there were talks between companies that fell through and a new franchise was born from the ashes but that happens all the time in gaming. “From a certain point of view” isn’t really applicable here. This type of situation happens for many games/franchises than people realize. This was just one of the many examples that are out there. Having said that, I adore the original Fighting Force game. While it was not as good as Final Fight or Streets of Rage of course but Fighting Force had it’s undieniable charm that kept me playing from start to finish (with the PS1 version of course being the superior port). As for Fighting Force 2, it was one of those games that just by looking at the front (and especially the back) of the box art that you knew you were not in for the same experience as the first game. While I agree that being the case was it & the franchise’s biggest downfall, I do think the sequel (which I own both on PS1 & Dreamcast) is actually not that bad of a game on its own right. Sure, like I said it’s not the same kind of game but it definitely is enjoyable to play through if you just take it for what it is. I do wish more of the original cast was present aside from Hawk but it’s a cute little action adventure game. Gameplay wasn’t as bad as people say and the Dreamcast version runs the smoothest. Like I said, if you take away all the negative press and high expectations that everyone had about Fighting Force 2, then you may find a neat and sort of “not too bad/glad Iplayed it” sort of experience. At least the game is playable and functional right? I did not know there was a Fighting Force 3 in the works & had all that progress behind it. For the time period of the early PS2 days, if finished it may have been what the franchise needed! :) I hope someone, someday finishes it. Would love to play it! Maybe one day! :)

Man, I remember reading about the supposed "3D streets of rage" back in 99 in an issue of EGM (I think). Of course I was curious but ultimately thought Fighting Force was a joke after it's release when compared to the Streets of Rage games. With that said, I didn't think FF was a completely terrible game. I had some fun with it and judging from the comments below, it seems lots of others enjoyed the game too. I'm glad I didn't play it's sequel though. That just looks like complete ass lol

6:09 and that was bothering. Fighting Force was indeed close to the classic 2D beat'em ups, because it was a beat'emup. What did game magazine journalists expect? Gaming journalists have always bothered me with their childish expectations and pseudo adult formulations of their otherwise useless opinions.

I got my Playstation for Christmas of 97 and the included demo disc had some cool secrets including a Fighting Force demo. Loved replaying that single stage over and over and marveling at how much stuff they packed in (could blow up the car, break it to find hidden weapons, ect) but not to the point of purchasing it. Friend of mine received it as a gift and we ended up playing through it together a few times. The reviews seemed way off to me, it wasn't something incredibly innovative but it wasn't meant to be. It was as solid mindless fun beat up dozens of guys with a buddy sort of game in the vein of practically entire genre.

Dear Mr. Top Hat Sir, I really love your videos! They are always informative and it is clear you have a deep passion for gaming, as you always go into depth on the topics you cover. However, I would like to offer my opinion that your titles and thumbnails for your videos have become incredibly click baity. Before clicking on this video, I knew there would be some kind of bait and switch when it comes to the subject. I knew that Fighting Force was going to be Streets of Rage 4 and there was a Fighting Force 2, so I figured that it was possible that this was going to talk about FF2. I feel that this was a well made video that was informative, but I always get that somewhat disappointed feeling when, once again, the title was a click baity bait and switch. Just offering that up as my opinion. Keep up the great work!

Not really. I was not extatic about SoR4. It looks wrong. Gameplay feels off compared to SoR2 and the soundtrack is nowhere as good. Intresting story. I did not like Fighting Force. The stage layout was bad. 3-D brawlers work better when you design the path of the game in trenches, so you don't get lost.
