A nation state's strength begins with the will of the people not the aspirations of the few seeking conflicts to multiply their power and wealth. Pre World War Two the American people were an isolated country with modern modest living standards, skilled labour, good materials base and technology advanced. Entering the war you were prepared to escalate war production and with numberical superiority defeated your enemies. Today the will of the people has deteriorated, your industrial base has left, financial and military dominance is diminishing and world wide foreign relations is in the dumbster. Recovery to "The World's Super Power" status seems unlikely but at the cost of lower living standards for millions more you will persist.
