Strengthening Board Engagement and Planning for Staff Succession

Brushy Fork Leadership Institute presenting on strengthening board engagement and planning for staff succession as part of the Berea College Appalachian Fund Capacity Building Initiative. Engaged and skilled board and staff members are critical to the success of nonprofit organizations. Each group has a role to play from oversight to programming to fundraising. This interactive workshop will explore board roles & responsibilities, including decision-making, board officer roles and potential committee structures, and board recruitment & onboarding. Participants will also consider the importance of staff development, and how succession planning that goes deep into the organization results in sustainability.
