The war in Ukraine has severely impacted the country's health sector. Since February 2022, thousands of highly skilled health providers have been displaced or emigrated while over 1,150 medical facilities have been damaged and destroyed. During this crisis, telemedicine has become a crucial tool connecting people with health care. Foreign companies have donated telemedicine equipment, software, and licenses. The USAID Local Health System Sustainability Project, led by Abt Associates, has helped the Government of Ukraine create a standardized process to deploy these technologies safely and effectively. The Project has provided training and technical support, resulting in over 1,000 medical workers being trained and more than 3,500 teleconsultations conducted. The program aims to be sustainable during and after the war.
