Hi Doc, the formula for Total stress should be as follows: Stress (D) = 3 * dry unit weight (sand) + 6 * saturated unit weight (clay) = 3 × 17.33 + 6 × 18.59 = 163.53 kN/m2 if you use the submerged unit weight for calculating total stress then you will get an answer of 104,67 kN/m2 17,33(3)+(18,59 - 9,81)(6) = 104,67kN/m2

you have done a mistake in calculating the total stress in point d: total stress must be calculated by using the saturated unit weight (gamma sat) not by buoyant unit weight. The result is true, but the method is false
