It actually makes me super happy. FINALLY a youtuber that gives this game an actually fair review! This game means a lot to me and is one of my biggest art inspirations so to see someone actually showcase the GOOD parts of it is a great sight to see!

I would like to add on Jellychan (slime). Recently found out that she actually can be damaged outside of pinching to death. The lightning in the sky will glow the ground either red or yellow (red being the better damage). You have a 3-5 second frame of pinching the top of Jelly to the sky and holding that will aim the thunder onto her dealing some nice damage.
@SalmonSammun2 жыл бұрын
Really now? I thought you had to lead her under the lightning, that sounds a lot more reasonable.

I've owned this game for several years, but never found that out. In hindsight, that probably should've been obvious.

4:23 In the japanese (and better) version of the they added 2 new enemies that's is a makeup face and other that is a fish trying to swallow a ball with a dog face... also they turn down the grinding in the game(sisters weak points give 3 points and the special cost 3 points) and actually there a lot of changes. The level design was tweaked, the graphics are improved(miss Mecha has a shinning reflection effect an the water in EX island has a better texture and animation), if you exorcised a sister her door will disappear and the EX ice level design tweak was great(using the slingshot move to scale the mountain of ice and for some platforming) edit: just now i noticed that in the bosses they name and sin appear as transform
@SalmonSammun2 жыл бұрын
Oh, neat! Didn't really spend a lot of time grinding points, but making it even easier probably means the JP version is best for speed runs then.
@lyuanfranco78422 жыл бұрын
@@SalmonSammun thanks for replying and yeah most of the speedruns of the game are in the japanese version (sorry for my bad English)

I respect the devs giving this an absurdist art style and unusual game mechanics. Everything Treasure makes seems to stand out as Ive played Gunstar heros and remember it fondly for its unique music, presentation, and bosses. For a platformer on genesis it starts typical enough but Ill just say at one point the game becomes a literal board game where you throw dice.

Hey, you just came up on my recommended feed and this is great! Im excited to check out and *completely legally* emulate this game and check out your video backlog. Looking forward to more of your work, thank you!

Thank you! The backlog's a little all over the place, I'm still sort of figuring out my strengths and learning how to work my editing software. I hope you enjoy them nonetheless!

I'd like to add that the OST for this game slaps so hard.
@daggersnight1373 Жыл бұрын
The manual for this game really gave an insight into what they wanted to do with the game but for some reason just didn't. It talks about the different ways the vanity demons twisted people with big noses, big boobies, and the like yet in the game we only see the one. It also describes each of the sisters and as you could see when you played the sisters are all random.

I wonder if this game entered development hell, adding too many ideas, but the PS2 wasn't powerful enought do do them, so the extreme simplification for not sucking more money was made. Because Treasure was a big and very good developer, they had the coders to an amazing game.
@PhilipsLS1300 Жыл бұрын
yup. I was an owner of this game back in 2001 when I was about 12yrs old. My mam said to me over phone 'I got you another game for your PS2'. It was the 4th game I got for it. So it was a PS2 demo, Crash Bandicoot WoC, WWF SmackDown Just Bring It then FreakOut two months later. I had no idea what I was playing. The controls were really floaty yet heavy. So I barely played it, not long after my mum got me SSX Tricky, so you can imagine what game I used to play on most, FreakOut was forgotten about. But the game still remained deep in my mind. I played a fair bit of it last year via PS2 emulator, now getting a much better idea of how it works. You can sort of seeing it being an early PS2 tech demo with its interaction with the little worlds. Its a very bizarre game and definitely not for children with those big boobed women. But the game has a rare charm to it. I like Hippa Linda, she has a nice design and I like her :3 face

Not just energy, there are a lot of pretty consistent parallels between them to the point aspects of Stretch Panic feel like a rough draft for Wario World.

This is a great video if there is one thing I can criticize it would be the royalty free music in the background. I feel like you should play the games music to get across how the game is tonally with its soundtrack as you explain and criticize it.
@SalmonSammun Жыл бұрын
It's funny because I remember when I was starting out, someone's recommendations for me WAS to use the royalty free music, but I 100% agree that I should have used the game's music instead. It makes the video more unique and also, you know, showcases the vibe of the game better than Monkeys Spinning Monkeys can.
@LuluFluffs Жыл бұрын
@@SalmonSammun Whoever recommended you to use royalty free music for video game essays are insane.
@SalmonSammun Жыл бұрын
I mean when you're starting out, you're not sure what works and what doesn't. I remember on my old channel, my Spider-Man review used music from various Spider-Man games instead of just the game I was reviewing, mostly because that game's soundtrack is pretty much a 10 second loop followed by another 10 second loop. I appreciate people trying to help me out, but sometimes your friends know as much about making videos as you do and their advice isn't the ideal.
