Donovan Simmons I run with 3 in my deck. I always manage to get one on the board so when I drop Caracal, ebalm sacred cat or tap pride. S. For a token it gets pretty cat heavy.. Love them cats!

Those pride sovereigns can become an opponent's worst nightmare if you can get to producing a ton of tokens or get a bunch of cats out early...I'm running some anointed processions as well so I can start producing double the amount of tokens. A good finishing blow is to bust out Appeal (+x/+x, for the number of creatures in play in addition to having trample)....That Pride Sovereign is definitely one fat cat :) And to keep in mind, Regal Caracal being out...that's gonna be a lot of life to keep track of.

I've seen some cat decks run Appeal//Authority, which seems to compliment Companion here with the tap down on authority or trample on the Appeal. I'd almost want a 2/2 split of Appeal//Authority and Prepare//Fight because they both have decent synergies with the deck. I'll probably mess around in play testing

I tried running 4 copies of anointed processing and 4 copies of mirage mirror instead of prowler/companion; they serve triple duty as copies 5-8 of pride sovereign, 5-8 of a regal caracal buff, or even copies 5-8 of anointed procession. Sweet deck to play :)

Holy shit.. this is basically what i run. But i dont use Companion, instead im using Scrounging Bandar to pump my others creatures with the +1+1 tokens. Works insanely good. Hit my usual play mate with a 16 damage swing. Appeal//Authority over Prepare//Fight imo.

Honestly, cats can be competitive at the FNM level. A list that ran mimic won the Saturday Game day at my local, was also running the GW Ajani Unyielding somewhere in the 75.

Other stuff to consider: Annoited Procession-doubles tokens from embalm/pride sovereign/regal caracal. Crested Sunmare-with the amount of lifelink crested sunmare has strong synergy, plus the bonus horses are hard to get rid of and live through most board wipes thanks to crested sunmare. Oketra's Monument-low cast cost=extra 1/1's. Dusk//Dawn-kills most stuff that isn't caracal, initiate companion, and pride sovereign, however we get back pride sovereign with dusk. Hour of revelation- have over ten permanents on the field is not hard with token generators like pride sovereign, also destroys non creature stuff. Heroic intervention- turn a board wipe into a one sided board wipe. Oketra-not hard to turn her on plus she is basically a cat god with good stats and double strike and survives hour of devastation.

My list (made it to the semifinals of gameday with my previous iteration of this deck): 4 Canopy Vista 4 Fortified Village 4 Scattered Groves 2 Scavenger Grounds 1 Hashep Oasis 4 Forest 6 Plains 4 Sacred Cat 4 Metallic Mimic 4 Adorned Pouncer 4 Pride Sovereign 4 Prowling Serpopard 4 Regal Caracal 4 Declaration in Stone 2 Collective Effort 2 Nissa, Voice of Zendikar 1 Cast Out 2 Gideon, Ally of Zendikar Sideboard: 4 Authority of the Consuls 2 Forsake the Worldly 2 Stasis Snare 2 Cast Out 1 Dusk // Dawn 4 Fumigate You are a midrange deck with a quick start. Getting in low and fast with a T1 Sacred Cat is your best opening. Always drop a Metallic Mimic before any of the other cats if you can, but never hold off a T1 Sacred Cat just to give it a counter. You need to be playing your threats as fast as you can. You do have some level of inevitability, but that's really a backup/closeout plan for your beatdown. Post Board if your opponent has threats that go bigger than you, faster than you, or can evade your ground bound kittens, don't be afraid to board out your planeswalkers and other pump non-creature spells for more effective removal. The upside to having so much lifelink is that you can afford to take a hit while you are building up your board. If you are instead spending your creatures to save planeswalkers you are giving up that advantage you need in order to build up to a critical mass of cats. Always expect your Metallic Mimic to die, especially the first one and in very short order. Don't let this deter you from playing it. It is a must deal with threat for your opponent. If one does stick it is a nasty nasty snowball. This deck goes WIDE. The number of threats you can get on the board per single card is bigger than most decks and that is one of the ways this deck wins. Additionally your deck isn't as scared of wrath effects as other creature based decks might be, Sacred Cat and Adorned Pouncer come back from the grave for another go around, meanwhile a single Pride Sovereign or Regal Caracal kept back in the hand or ripped off the top of the library is an absolute beating when coming back from a wrath. Sacred Cat may seem unassuming, but that is actually one if its greatest strengths. It can chip in or hold the ground, gaining you life while you get your bigger stuff online and your opponent REALLY doesn't want to spend a removal spell on arguably the weakest creature in your deck. Yes those 4 Authority of the Consuls come in against Ramunap Red. That's the only matchup they are in there for and it really does help. You need all 4 so that you have the best chance of drawing it in your opener which is when it is most powerful. The deck that actually killed me at gameday was Temur Energy. I just couldn't deal with Bristling Hydra. That has hopefully been solved with this version of the deck where I traded 3 subpar sideboard slots for 3 more wraths. Bring in all 5 board wipes against Temur Energy as you just can't otherwise hit the Hydra. All that said my deck and sideboard were designed for my metagame so you may wish to make some tweaks depending on what you face.

Splash red for Fling and Khenra Charioteer. When Pride Sovereign is boosted attacks he will have trample, then fling him at the enemy. I have gotten lethal damage every time it worked. Unreliable, but fun to throw cats at people!

I've seen versions of this on game day, and, well, it's not as good as one may think. My advice: play Heroic Intervention in mainboard, a full four of them, and also up the Blossoming Defense to four copies. The deck falls apart easily to removal, especially the Sovereign is useless when he hits an empty board. That situation needs to be avoided at all cost. Worst case, if they don't play removal, Intervention gives you the option of reckless full swings, and the Defense would be a decent pump spell even without the hexproof.

I dont understand why they are printing the allied checklands in ixalan. They just printed allied lands in amonkhet.They printed allied in the battle block, in the shadows block, and in the amonkhet block. Enemy lands only got printed in the kaladesh block

Wumbo Allied color pairs get a lot more support from Wizards for draft purposes as well as designing allied colored cards is just easier to do from a card design perspective. Its unfortunate that enemy pairs don't get equal shares of cards, but that's why.

The 2 of Felidar Cub in Sideboard is what he's talking about. It's just on theme Artifact/enchantment removal attached to a body. It can be replaced with any artifact/enchantment removal. Just won't get the "cat" upside.

The way I made mine better and not Budget means going away from cats alittle... Rhonas for instant Speed Trample, Creasted Sunmare for 5/5 tokens, and maybe some Majestic Myriarch, it gets large like 50/50 large, double strike, lifelink, indestructible, trample, deathtouch... (if you throw in flyers then also flying) adding 4 Anointed as well... jacks up the price and it's still mostly kitties but... it gets way better... I have taken first and second the past 2 FNMs and took 2nd on both game days
