They're similar to the Japanese in their attention to quality and detail. Most Americans live under a delusion that they have the best of everything whereas so many American business and restaurant outlets overseas have better food and more variety. I found a lot of restaurants like the BBQ places there, whilst great for socialising, which is actually the Korean culture when eating out, they would deny single server eating alone. That is one side of travelling alone in Korea I found, a lot of meals are shared portion sizes and are meant to be eaten by 2 or more, they simply would stop me at the door for even sitting down.
@somindaddy2 жыл бұрын
Korean here. Even a few years ago, what you are saying is generally true. These days not so as much. I eat by myself all the time anywhere and nobody cares. Just say you will order food for two and there will probably no problem. But you'll need to have an appetite like Mike!
@RaymondwLin2 жыл бұрын
@@somindaddy Yeah, my last visit was Feb 2020 so not returned since. I did eat at a few places by myself, but a lot of places that I liked simply turned me away. I also have no idea how to say "I will order for 2 in korea", although i am not sure i want to, both for health or wasting money reasons. Which means I simply missed out or being gatekeep from some places that i wanted to eat at. I am not saying it's the fault of the establishment, I know it's more profitable to have a table fully of customers rather than 1, it's just harder for me from my point of view.
