Pity more flight sims aren't like this game. It manages to hit that perfect sweet spot between Arcadey enough to be fun, and Simmy enough to be challenging. also a stupid number of aircraft to fly.

Damn I loved this game... I know things have only gotten better. But I was never a computer guy. Didn't know how to do all the things to mod games most did. The function to import skins of the internet to make new squadrons for the skins blew me away. Great game

I love vietnam, i wish this era had more flight sims. I can't understand why there hasnt been a dedicated vietnam huey sim.

What a good idea. Hueys did so many jobs you would have a huge list of potential missions in-game. It really is a shame that Vietnam is so overlooked.

Epic intro love the A-1 Also shouldn't the Skyraider have a fixed vertical trim that you adjust on ground to counteract the engine torque like a cessna? or more rudder surface to that side jaw

Following the mod list in this video but for some reason the enemy AA fire is showing up as purple ball tracers. Literally a lot of purple balls flying through the air and exploding lol. Anyone knows what the problem may be?

Can you run that game on Windows ten since from the download on the website, Strike fighter 2 is in the windows 7 category.

I'm still running Win 7 so I can't speak to that personally, but on forums for SF2 and at CombatAce.com it seems lots of people run it just fine. It gives some folks problems with certain Nvidia drivers, so it's probably wise to do some research about your system before you spend any money.

Make sure the "effects" option is on high, not Unlimited. For some reason unlimited causes major issues. I also turn the horizon back one from the top. These options don't effect the look that much but are a huge FPS drag

Btw how did you learn to play this game? I just got it, never played any of the series before, and you seem to know a lot of the technical controls of the plane

If you look at Controls on the options page, click on "customize" and it shows you every keyboard command (which you can also change if you want). As for learning the game, I've just been playing it and its prequel for about 20 years

DCS can be very overwelming at first, but if you start with older/simpler aircraft (F86/F-5) and buildup to newer/more complex stuff (Mirage 2000/F-18) you will eventually get it down. Just like any hobbie it takes time. And I would say DCS is beyond sim-game and more in the hobby-sim section

I'm not sure where the files are in later Windows versions, but in Windows 7 the mod folder is in "User Name"/Saved Games/Thirdwire/StrikeFighters2. Run the game at least once to initialize it. All of the empty mod folders will appear: Campaigns, Controls, Effects, etc. Any mods you get should have their files in similar folders, so just copy and paste into the appropriate folders. Even with my various addons, like Europe and Vietnam, I always open the game with the base Strike fighters 2 and all my content is there. I hope this helps!

The one here was free from CombatAce, but the much nicer one I use later I purchased from Yankee Air Pirate.

@@aviationandtrainnerd7448 You have to go into the campaign files and replace the stock Enterprise with the addon ship, then in the game choose a squadron that was assigned to it.

@@aviationandtrainnerd7448 Go to your mod folder under "Saved Games" and open the campaign that you want to fly in. Open the Data.ini file for that campagin. Scroll way down until you see the carrier units. Look for carrier number 65, thats usually always Enterprise. The line "carrier type" tells the game what model to use, so replace the stock "CVAN-65 (62)" with the new "CVN-65"

Where did you get the hangar music from? I've looked on CombatAce and haven't seen anything. Is it some kind of mod or do you put it in yourself?

Yes, here I add it in post. I made a sound effects track to simulate the hangar bay noises and then I put the music track over that with heavy reverb and made to sound like a radio. The game uses .wav files so if you have some music editing skills it's pretty easy. Also, there is a Vietnam Sounds mod that I use when I play by myself, and I've modified it to have the music I like in it: combatace.com/forums/topic/59780-vietnam-era-sounds-mod-pack-for-sf2v/

I don't believe so. It is the Skyraider included in the the SF2:V "Expansion Pack Gold" (with the 2013 update), which according to the readme's looks like they took the existing aircraft and added necessary files to make it flyable.
