The problem what I saw at visual are I can't feel the material . Best example look at F4 Phantom cockpit inside. Was so good maket and you almost belive is not a game. That is missing a lot from here. Make metal look at metal, wood feel at wood etc. Now I;m feel as in 90 years game. Outside ship look mooore bad!. So take as an advice from a graphic designer. Starfield make another great job on visual so you have a lot of inspiration.

Please, don't destroy my hometown! I'll be born there 20 years later! Thanks, great video as alway, just love your campaigns. Concerning the pronounciation: yes it's Yena (Jena) but Kemnitz (Chemnitz) - sometimes "ch" turns into "k". Also as a side note: in 1953 Chemnitz was renamed to "Karl Marx Stadt" to commemorate the historic philosopher and was only reverted back to Chemnitz in 1991.

Awesome episode Devin, this was a truly great conclusion to the tour with the great ace Hickenbottom. This was also a truly great end to the showcasing of the Gloster Meteor, this was also poignant because this is the sort of thing the Meteor F8s did all of the time in the Korean war. Was a great treat to complete the tour without harassment from USSR MiGs, their numbers were likely weak given the beating NATO forces have been dishing out, as well as the hammering you've given out. This 50s career has been utter gold and I've loved every episode, this RAF series is among the best on the channel, looking forward to seeing which aircraft is next in the RAF. Like an ace get a good cold drink and have one on me tonight. Looking forward to the next SF2 episode on the channel, till then fly safe and happy hunting mate 👏👍

A holodeck could procedurally generate a planet surface like any other but without either the rewards or risks associated with an actual planet landing. And it could be restricted by what the player has already explored, so e.g. if you've never landed on a planet with trees before the holodeck won't generate them. Though that's becoming potentially overly cumbersome on dev time as you say.

I bet conditional multiplayer kind of like Dark Souls could work. You could have things like, say, distress calls that result in an actual player showing up to help.

My guy, firstly: thanks for your service. Secondly, since this is going to be a civilian exploration vessel, I think he's going to go with the civilian equivalents of naval ranks/stations (or some variation thereof).

Not only you made me fall in love with this old game - especially in the era of DCS and BMS, while I'm spending part of my small free time on SF2 instead - but you also gave another great example of how learning (history and much more here) and videogames can walk together. Thanks for the work you've put here, this channel was like finding a gem!

One thing I always wonder about campaigns like this, do they ever describe the how or why of these wars being fought without nuclear weapons going off left and right? Even in these early days the US had over 1,000 warheads and the Soviets around 120. I suppose that may be how the Soviet blitz through the Fulda Gap was closed in this scenario but then we should be fighting over a barren wasteland

That's a great question. Had Stalin still been alive, my opinion is he would have no problem nuking all of Germany. His paranoia towards the west and capitalism was extreme. In 1953, though, Stalin had just died and the new regime under Khrushchev was interested in reversing many of Stalin's policies and promoting more contact with the West. I think in a war like this one, even though it's huge, both sides are still looking to re-unite both halves of Germany under one banner, preserving the country to make use of its resources and industry. The fact that it is a proxy country under direct attack, rather than UK, USSR, or US home soil would probably make the major powers reluctant to deploy actual nukes in this scenario. There is also something to be said for both sides at the time wanting to prove that their way of life was superior, and rebuilding a strong Germany under a capitalist or communist system might be a more important moral victory than laying waste to everything. There's so much more interesting stuff about the politics of this time that would way on this decision (early on the US had bad intel on the Soviets and thought their nuke and bomber fleets were exponentially bigger than they actually were), but that's why I think both sides would prefer conventional warfare here.

It's not a good habit, but yes. I'm used to glancing in a mirror, but with none on the Meteor here its hard to see aft. Additionally, when I'm filming an episode, I fly a little different than when I'm alone, as I'm always thinking about narrative and good camera angles if the wingmen are doing something cool. I will often roll the dice and not be maneuvering when I should be in order to zoom in on some action elsewhere in the sky. The wingmen are usually good about calling bandits, or ground control will alert us if they are nearby, and I use the "visual targeting" key a lot to check to see if another enemy has closed closer than the one I'm looking at (would be a hint they have moved in to fire). On this mission, none of those seemed to work and the phantom MiG(s) were not targeting.

Utterly awesome episode Devin, that was top quality performance as well as great damage inflicted on the USSR forces and MiG 15 inventory units. Just so you know, your the alpha numerical lesson is absolutely correct, yeah us Brits always used the name and markage designations at one point, this day and age we tend use the alpha numerical thing on US made aircraft quite frequently even when we talk about WW2 aircraft, I use it all of the time so that goes to show how we've moved on. We still use the name designations on various aircraft and helicopters even now, but more often now we sometimes use both name and alpha numerical at the same time, my brother in law who was in the army uses both and almost all of his friends who was in his regiment. Great to know that your pilot is going to be rotated and the squadron is going to recover, if your interested in showing more aircraft here in the 50s then operating new planes would be great, F84 and even F86 would be awesome, what I love most about this campaign is that it's fictional, effectively a parallel timeline - a bit like the Ace Combat 4, 5 and 6 games I used to play as a kid, take creative liberties as it we're. Really enjoyed this episode, your RAF series is incredible, looking forward to the next episode. Fly safe and happy hunting mate 👏👍

Like you there are certain aircraft that I found more enjoyable to fly. I've mentioned the Sea Harrier (I love hover landing on an aircraft carrier), but I also like the F-106 Delta Dart with the M61 Vulcan cannon upgrade that replaces the Genie nuke missile. Yeah, the F-106 has awful missiles, but for me that is half the fun. And the missiles are programmed to be better in the game than real life anyway (30% hit rate in the game, less than 10% in real life). Another plane I find myself flying for funsies are US Navy Panthers and Banshees in Korea. I like carriers, so I fly a lot of navy and marine planes. Once you get to the 1970's and F-14 and higher numbered fighters it gets to be too easy. You're just a missile launcher from then on. I still like the Sea Harrier because it only has sidewinders, no BVR radar missiles.

Really enjoyed this mission, although I feel the pain and frustration of the "Fighter Sweep" mission type; often, unless you have the red box HUD on, you're never aware of exactly what you're supposed to be shooting at. Sometimes Red Crown gives you a specific report which ends with "clear to engage" and that's what you're supposed to attack, sometimes it's obvious, like aircraft performing CAS over a ground engagement. You really get a sense of the confusion of it all without a radar to pick up formations as you approach.

That's the Battle of Britain March, which is quite relevant to the series, it being an RAF march. I believe Devin recorded it himself. I think it's quite a cool take on a pretty famous march.
