They can still get to the screws to unscrew it & get in HOWEVER if you take the long chain place it between the 2 prongs then place on the door knob there is NO way for them to get in or get to the screws, it shortens the chain a little & the lock plate stays close to the door frame. You can do that with the Everlast all you want but a quick as it took to install thats how quick it will be to get in if you don't use that device the way I said.

What stops you from just kicking a regular door chain and walking in? Regular door chains are found in every hardware store, Walmart, target and many others stores in the country. They can be bypassed with one kick. We are a huge improvement. What I am starting to see in many of the comments is the misinterpretation of this lock. Door chains are supposed to be used for answering the door. This ALSO has a flip-lock to secure the door when it is closed. For someone to come with a screwdriver seems somewhat far-fetched in the idea that you are standing at the door while they are trying to unscrew two screws. Even if this were the case, it would still give you time to A. Call 911 B. Grab a defensive weapon or C. go to a safer place. You also have the option of going to your local hardware store and “upgrading” the lock by adding security screws. The problem with existing door chains is that with one kick, the perpetrator would be inside your house in two seconds. Our lock survived sixty-kicks, which is a major upgrade from standard door chains. If you would like to see this video, check us out at Www.Strikeplatelocks.com. With an old style door chain, you know they are trying to get in when the door hits you in the face Show less Reply

I work with locks and this product is flimsy, unsafe, and worst of all - provides a false sense of security. 1 hit with a sledge or 1 kick with a good boot or couple of seconds with a good pry rod will completely obliterate this flimsy piece of metal. To make matters worse, it depends on the strength of your door handle, which is not designed to withstand any significant force and is usually half broken from years of wear. Most likely they used specific reinforced handle for the purposes of this video, which your door does not have. Don't be an idiot and install proper multi point locking system instead. And the installation is best left to the professionals, or if you could find a former burglar through your friends to install it for you - that'll be even better.

Strike Plate Locks, none of that has any semblance to reality, it's just marketing bullshit by snake oil salesmen. Contact a real strike plate buyer few years after purchase, hire a former burglar from a real security audit company, and give him a task to open the door. From the outside it will look like he has the key. No noise, couple of seconds, and he's in.
