You know, when I first heard about Shovel Knight a when it came out and actually played a little bit of the first level on my friends 3Ds and I thought it was just, OK. But then I bought Shovel Knight Treasure Trove yesterday, and then I played the first level. I must have been a dumb kid back then because I absolutely loved the first level this time. I think it’s because I can appreciate the music, sprite work, and controls a lot more now! I’m DEFINITELY going to complete all 4 of the campaigns and the multiplayer mode, this game really hooked me. 😊

People always comment on its 8-bit nature and how it "sounds like Mega Man" but what I don't think most people realize is that these songs were actually AFAIK designed "for the NES" using FamiTracker and with a suitable sound engine could trivially run on an NES with a VRC6 audio chip.

I’m not a big 2d platformer fan, hell I only had this game on my switch because I share it and somebody else bought it. Had been putting it off for about 5 months, gave in and started playing. This has been one the wildest, most enjoyable games I have played in a long time. Indie devs work so hard on their work and it shows. I love every singe aspect of this game.

this song is way up with the legendary game songs. it may not hold as much memories as the pokemon theme, it may not express its story as well as bfg division expresses raw agression, but its hella energetic and very well made. this is one of the best 8 bit songs ever made and also one of the best game songs if you ask me. especially when just listening to the music and not what it is supposed to tell.
