I stumbled upon this video in my favourites and it's honestly shocking to see how different the feel of this show is nowadays. In my mind, the tone of Road to Berlin was always there. I still remember watching this for a laugh... and then Lynne and Trude's episodes came along with some pretty relatable stuff that made me pause. However, seeing this video makes you truly realise how the show has gradually shifted priorities over time. Fascinating! Anyway, still a great AMV. Your clip usage and the timing is excellent.

I like this series but I have to admit the story is so broken apart you can't help but think of it as random fan service and cheesy lines. Which is a shame because the makers did put some effort in collecting things from WWII and putting allusions of them in this series. This AMV made me remember this bitter fact since it shows just how awesome this series could have been if they had used the characters better, developed them patiently and not just put them through a cliche-rollercoaster. ty

@edynorlando It's not a rumor anymore. The movie has been set to be aired on March 17th 2012 (in Japan). So, the Blu-Ray/DVD may come out at the end of the year or in 2013 XD

@Maddy922 To put in simple, it's an anime series that tells the story of 11 girls, members of an elite task force called 501st Joint Fighter Wing (or Strike Witches, in short), in the year 1939 (yeah, right when the WW2 began in our world). Its purpose is to fight an enemy called the Neuroi, using their magical powers and Striker Unit (made for them to fly).

i already watched season 1 and 2.. a lot of people dont like this series but im one of the one who loved it, and im waiting for a season3 or at least a movie like it has been rumored.. franchesca lucchini makes me laught a lot... if theres any more good anime series like this one let me know..btw thanks for posting this video.

@RuunaLuvsCake They can't wear pants, because their propeller leg things (Striker Engines) won't fit otherwise. They also have to remain on alert for alien attacks, so they just never wear pants, so they can jump right into the Striker Engines at any time. How nice for otaku.....

@Signum93 I discovered something interesting about Sky Girls. It was created by the same man who made Strike Witches, but the studio made him change a bunch of things. Strike Witches, which came later, is much closer to his original vision and he put a lot more love into it.

On the surface its blatant fanservice and LOL gonzo CG. Those who know about the WW2 pilots and the war in general will definitely appreciate the details that the series captures. But if you don't expect anything more than the fanservice, its very enjoyable.

@Djalmanac Sky Girls is similar to Strike Witches with little girls fighting "invaders" by flying and fight against them, although the story is much more in the future (2079)

@otakufreak90 well, is not proper yuri since there is no love scene etc, but if you watch the show, you would realice that more than one witch is lesbian: eila, perrine, yoshika.... XD. so its an accion series with yuri as a side element hope you're clear now
