Looks like you're setting up a long line curvature test? If yes...are you thinking of doing it in the water...shallow or on surface...or above the water? Saw a 4000 yard spool of braid 150 lb....not cheap by any means....Fins brand. Maybe neutral density or slightly floaty would be best. Or...are you just going fishing 🙂?

Definitely for long line test! 6km, Buoyant Braided PE, 100lb test, guaranteed to break at 90lb, (lol cheap Chinese string) and has around 1-2mg/ft of buoyancy after soaking in water for weeks and vacuum degassing.

If you'll answer, i would really appreciate! How did you limit the carriage's travel along the reversing shaft? How did you change the crescent carriage liner?

> _How did you limit the carriage's travel along the reversing shaft?_ The little spring on the stop presses on the lever which changes the angle of the guide pin blade that rides in the groove. > _How did you change the crescent carriage liner?_ I'm not sure what you mean by "Crescent Carriage Liner." But there's a little guide pin with a flat paddle on the end. That flat paddle rides in the groove. But the pin can turn a bit to get into the track going the other way. Does that answer your question?

@@fromjesse Can I contact you by email? I would send you a photo of my problem. I don't really understand how you made the carriage change direction easily. If it is possible :)

@@КаринаШония-р7ь Does this help? kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKealIuIZrqejbM www.abssac.co.uk/video/Abssac+Self+Reversing+Screw/21/ The little slot-rider paddle normally just keep in the slot it's in till it gets to the end and gets shifted, but you can shift the angle at any intersection to reverse direction at that intersection.

@@КаринаШония-р7ь You are welcome! Watch the videos I sent, they show you how the mechanism works. If you come to understand how it reverses but still do not understand how I make it to reverse before hitting the end, let me know and I'll make another video showing what's inside my reversing mechanism.

@@fromjesse So if you do it on the surface or say an inch below...for say 2 miles (4K yard spool)...the middle should pull under by about 8"...if curved....will stay at surface or just under if flat. Neutral buoyancy line or slightly floaty? If doing above the surface...how are you accounting for sag....BTW...I have seen a calculation for sag...assume you have too.
@fromjesse
@fromjesse 11 ай бұрын
@@pablosdog2808 There are 3.7 miles worth of string on the spool. The middle would pull like 28 inches under if the string was exactly neutral buoyancy. However, the string is slightly floaty - it floats about 1mg for each foot. I have done some rough calculations and the best I can hope for is to pull under 10 inches in the middle. Yes, the ends will be like 1/4 inch under water. No, it should not sag because it's floating string.

@@fromjesse Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it. This looks like a fun thing to do and fits your skill set from the looks of things. Dead calm glassy day I suppose....fresh water to avoid any swell? Will you have a 3rd party observer to verify the results?

Just a hint: Maybe for a pure "commentary" video, use mono mode, i.e. have the same, complete sound signal ledt and right. I tend to use just one earphone, and here your comment is almost all on the right channel. Anecdote: Just a few days ago, I listened tsi Elizabeth ("The Charismatic Voice") commenting on David Bowie's "Space Oddity", an when she said how extreme the stereo effect is used there, I just thought "Sh*t, I hear only half of that great song", because once again one side of my cable earphones had broken. So I had to quickly go and buy new ones to be able to listen to the video... 😜🤣

Yeah my phone has got a bad mic. Sorry. I just recorded with my phone, pasted together 3 clips with the free clip cut app and uploaded directly to KZbin...
