My dear young man, do you know how extremely rare this house is ?? Explorers who have been at this for years never get to see the kinds of treasures you and your friend saw today. This house isn't "like a real-time" capsule...it IS a time capsule !! Everything you saw, everything you touched was from another time, another era. This family was very well-to-do, it shows itself in so many ways. The exquisite furnishings, glassware, china, paintings, and so much more. The tissue boxes upstairs, the bottles of things in the bathroom, small knickknacks...I cannot remember all of them !! The one thing that took my breath away was the shower in the bathroom. I have only seen these in very old homes that are museums open to the public. It was specifically designed so that the bather needn't move to get wet !!! All those tiny holes sprayed every part of the body !! I was in total shock to see it there. The old kitchen stove would not be moved, it could still be used in some way. The new one added so much more convenience, that's all. the things in the glass cabinet I assure were all well used. You are no doubt right, the small bath and bedroom were used by a servant and were attached right to the kitchen to start the morning ritual, of cooking breakfast for the family. Many times older homes are retrofitted with new windows to make it more efficient, but this one still had its originals. As most have already said it was coal that was used in the old coal furnace, beside it the newer more efficient one. Copper fire extinguishers, The green patina happens to copper as it gets older. my guess about the cottage ?? it was no doubt for the gardener. Whoever built this house was a true craftsman and you were blessed to see this masterpiece just by chance...unheard of !!!

This is a gorgeous find & barely any dust. They must have a family trust caretaker or something. The brass cannisters in the basement remind me of really old fire extinguishers, but maybe they're water filters? looking at the latest decor, appliances, phones & old fax machine, looks like someone passed in the 1980's. It looks like several generations of items from the 1930's to 1980's. Reminds me of an old Catskills Mountains vacation home.

In the basement, you see the old, and the new. The coal bunker, still with plenty of coal, and the coal fired furnace. Then, as you pan around, you see the more modern fuel oil tank. My home, built in 1904, was originally heated by a coal fired furnace. In the sixties, it was converted to oil. That house you had the privilege of touring could have been my old family homeplace. So many memories brought back watching your video. We sold the family home when my Grandpa passed in 1990. This video hit home for me and I thank you for posting it.

I would love to know the story behind this . Does this ever make you want to find out what happened? You guys are really cool . Im 61 years old and this home reminds me of grandparents and uncle and aunt houses . The most important thing that stood out to me were the modern day plastic bins in the upstairs bedroom closet. The bright colored faux flowers on the table in the dining room. The modern stove. I don’t think it’s abandoned but rather a family home that still has members coming back to ensure it’s not being destroyed. I truly hope that the location will not be discovered by anyone.
@ThePixilator6 күн бұрын
🤣😂 You guys crack me up! Your youth is very charming. @25:18, that's a portable (not built in) dishwasher from the late 60's or early 70's. @27:00 that is a pile of coal (if you'd looked closely you should have seen something that looked like a metal doggie door, called a shoot, which was used as a way to deliver the coal from a truck outside the home into the basement. Coal was used to fuel homes with heat at the time this home was built. The old cast iron stove in the basement is what delivered the heat upstairs. Which was very common and normal in the 1920s-40s and in some locations even into the 50's. That big thing against the wall @27:52 is an oil tank. Which would also have been used for fuel to heat the home probably the replacement for the iron, coal burning furnace. @28:20 those are fire extinguishers who's contents were under pressure to help it come out faster for emergencies, which by the way would have absolutely been essential to have handy considering the incredibly EXPLOSIVE nature of the previous 2 things I just told you about! 😆 One other interesting thing I noticed as an older person walking through with you, that this house doesn't even have 1 fireplace. I think the people who built the house wanted to show their wealth status. They were all "fancy" with their modern coal burning! I love your enthusiasm and appreciate your respectfulness. Enjoy and be safe!
@zeldamartin34874 күн бұрын
There was once a fireplace in the living room corner and it was wall boarded up and covered in that goldish wallpaper. There was a time that covering up fireplaces was showing off you could afford to heat your house without fireplaces. Didn’t really spend money on the kitchen. The cabinet in the kitchen that housed kickbacks was actually an old cabinet that would of housed medical items in a doctor’s office. You need someone about 40 years older than you to point out things and educate you on what you are seeing s💋o you can appreciate it more❤

Bingo!!! I bet the last spouse of an elderly couple just died. All the kids live out of town. (That also contributes to the condition of the exterior.) Grandma just passed away recently, everyone was in town to bury her, and take what they wanted. Now they'll call the auctioneer, the auction team comes thru, and time marches on. This is someone's family home. And I suspect if the family sees this video, they're gonna be pissed. When did it become acceptable to enter someone's house, just because there hasn't been anyone living there for a few months?
@garretrocha86 күн бұрын
Based off my findings on this video. This house has WiFi and a home phone system using cat 4 Ethernet. Based off the Linksys router, printer, and security system is dated from 2005-2012. While the water heater and furnace appears to be recently installed within the last 3-5 years. The cabinet featured in the kitchen has boxes of medicine and other amenities that appear to be recently purchased. I don't believe this house is abandoned. If anything it's a house someone owns but doesn't visit very often. There is very little dust or cobwebs, and it's very clean and well maintained.

This home is being cared for. The family probably have not gone thru everything yet. I hope nobody takes anything or destroys it

Very odd! That house is a complete walk away. We respect your respect 👍🫡. And pretty sure I spotted a Walrath vase on that upper wall shelf. Very nice indeed. That house needs a good alarm system and you should contact the same people you talked to that let you in and tell them that.

Who let them in? I thought they climbed in a window.

U can go to the local library OR is it City Hall?, and look up what happened or what’s going on with the house. Say ur writing an article about abandoned houses,’. I loved that master bedroom.❤ Nobody came to clean the house out- maybe it’s stuck in Escrow??? Who knows? I dig it tho☺️😁

Do you ever look up to see who owns the property? You can look up deeds and property taxes it’s all public information.

You can get implicated if there was a crime, leaving your fingerprints and footstep marks around.

The coal is for heating the house as it had a coal furnace and the copper tanks are fire extinguishers not water tanks

It’s simple to research ownership. Truly an amazing-find? Hard to believe you just stumbled on this. What city is this in?

Someone has to be taking care of it. No cobwebs. Maybe the daughter or son of an old couple in a care home. I hope so anyway. If you go to the courthouse you could look up who owns it and if they died.
