I haven't watched the video yet so who knows what happens but having a Mezepheles is a fun way to almost but not quite counteract the Poppygrower. You can have two evil players who know who each other are and can compile information but they still have to try and find the most important member of ther team, the demon

Entirely possible, as long as poppy grower is on the script, you can deceive the lunatic into thinking it's a poppy grower game and give them no minions. It's one of the roles people put on custom scripts to make lunatic work a little bit better/make it more outsider-y, especially in online games. Otherwise, the dilemma is that if you give them good players as minions, they figure out they are the lunatic immediately, if you give them evil players as minions and if they ever figure out they are the lunatic and evil had strung them along, they can out who the evil players are.

It’s a fair point. Anyone can say “I nominate the Storyteller.” But if there isn’t an Atheist on the script, the Storyteller simply won’t recognize it as a legitimate nomination, i.e., won’t run the vote. This is one of two instances I can think of where the rules aren’t strictly governed by character abilities as written. (1) The ability to legitimately nominate the ST depends on whether Atheist is on the script, not on whether Atheist is in play; and (2) when an outsider becomes a new Fang Gu, they do not gain the Fang Gu’s ability to jump to an outsider.

Usually arbitrary deaths are from Pit-Hag changing a demon or another player into a different demon. The ST is advised to kill 0 when the demon changes, and kill 2 when making another player a demon. But, they can kill as many as they want.

How was good ever supposed to win this game? Evil starts with a demon, two minions and a marionette, immediately gains an honorary minion, and all the good team has to work with is three drunk/poisoned roles, a lunatic and and an empath that doesn't believe his info. I would have been upset I had to sit through this entire game if I were on the good team.

Your math is kinda off - evil started with two minions one of which was a marionette (not a marionette in addition to two minions), the other one whose sole purpose is to add an extra team member (as you call it, honorary minion) and that's pretty much it. Marionette thinks they are a good player, so evil had already started with a missing minion ability, so extra evil barely balances it out. Drunk is known to the librarian, and the poison is traceable through neighbors to No-Dashii. I even had the sage ability go off on purpose in the hopes of convincing the marionette, which reduced the demon candidates down to two people before we outed the whole thing to the marionette. Good had plenty of info and the game could have gone off to an entirely different direction had things budged a little bit at any point (Mezepheles got executed d1, Marionette didn't believe the evil team, etc.). We worked hard as the evil team and managed to pull it off, it wasn't an easy win by any means. I know some of the good players were pretty surprised at the end when the whole thing unraveled but I believe most of them had a good time trying to solve it all most of the game and trying to convince the marionette at the end.

No Dashi is a relatively weak demon, since (esp. in S&V) it can be easy to trace the poison. Arguably, in this script the inclusion of roles like Drunk and Mezepheles and Marionette helps to give the No Dashi a fighting chance.

I was very, very close to nominating Ekin on that penultimate day...but unfortunately for good, the solve had either me or Malaki evil. I think the main reason we struggled (yes, still playing for good here!) was that Navean pushed a strong narrative (and they had a very strong social game to match, which didn't help Nicky believe his info) throughout, and town were too intent on trying to kill demon candidates than minions/evil townsfolk. Once evil have a living majority/voting momentum, it's really hard to counter it. We definitely had a lot of chance for a good win, but put our trust in the wrong people. Sometimes that happens.
