Striped Bass Fishing with the SARDINE Daiwa Salt Pro Minnow - SINKING SP MINNOW S15. I would have no problem wandering down any beach this fall with only the Diawa Salt Pro Minnow in my pocket in Sardine for striped bass. The Sinking SP Minnow in size 15 is a great lure to work for striper. It sinks. Cast out or parallel to the beach let it drop, give a tad of slack and retrieve. Fish on! You can mix it up to follow the trend in the bite or drop a teaser in front and you will be catching stripers one after the other. If you are not looking for every single fish do not worry about slightly dull hooks. You will connect with only the big ones and feel the traffic of the smaller fish. Those are advanced topics for another day, so keep your hooks sharp!

Hi Frank! To bad they didnt go for a swim then theyd be dogfishes themselves! Always love coming across the stray pouch out there. had one eat my bunker one day and another day one ate my gulp! The owners apologized and both offered me money I refused they were entertaining. I reassured him the bunker was fresh and well I guess the gulp be ok till it came out the other side! I've noticed BKK inline single hooks work pretty well. They're much safer than trebles and aren't as long as J hooks. I thought hookup ratio would suffer and they would get knocked around in the surf but not the case. I now spend much less time unhooking and more time fishing.

Speaking of fish safety theories, what’s your take on dragging them in the sand, if even for a little time/distance? I see that you use the wave to bring it in as much as possible, but then there’s still a small distance of dragging them in the sand. 👍🏾

Certainly use the wave when you can. Bass are quite hearty fish. Sand on the sides is not going to bother them much. A 40lb plus fish that has fought a good while and tired will need extra coaching when the surf allows it. The protective slime on the fish grows like snot, same as when you have a runny nose. It comes back right away. In Freshwater where bacteria are more prevalent in high number the fish may be vulnerable for a short period of time to a bacterial infection. I say always put your safety first the surf wells and put yourself first not the fish. Great question

Yes did well with em to! Both ends of the tide seemed to work when I been out. best advice, high water fish a beach with close in rips and cuts, low water fish a beach with further out rips and cuts. tide dont matter to me cept mid tide can be tricky!!!
