You can use a hole puncher on a Pringle’s lid. That works good from keeping your bait from double hooking itself

Great tip, what I use is the rubber hook protecters that usually come on new lures but the beads are a easy way to prevent rubbers from sliding up or down the hook

Love your info mike . We used to fish Delaware bay & Md some but when the fish dropped off & the regulations had us turning loose dead or dying fish ( just due to fighting them to the boat & coukd not keep them ) we have about stoped strioer fishing . Now were chasing bluecats the new sportfish in the area . Wow i never thought i woukd be saying that 😂

Curious how you work those weighted swim bait hooks ? What scenario would you use those over a jig head paired with a BKD plastic ?

I prefer the weighted hooks most of the time. I’ll use a jig head if I’m sitting over structure and want to fish on the bottom. For everything else I use a Swimbait hook with and sometimes without any weight on the hook at all. The suspended action as a jerk bait is killer. Awesome bait for suspended fish. 👍

Hi Mike! Just got some 10” BKDs after watching one of your videos. Question: when rigging them, is the slit side of the lure supposed to be up or down? I’ve always rigged fluke type baits with the slit down and noticed you are rigging them the opposite way. Thanks!

You can rig either way, but hookup ratios are better if you have the point coming out between the little flaps. That part of the bait is much softer and more flexible with 2 thin flaps versus a solid block backbone of rubber. The hook hits paydirt easier because that area collapses around the hook point. Of course it’s also good for weeds if you hide the entire point between the flaps. 👍👍. Thanks for your support brother!
