Stripped Exhaust Manifold Bolt Hole Repair

Showing you guys how I repaired my exhaust manifold bolt holes on my sr20det engine. I used keyserts and the installation tool for this job. Not using heli-coil. Step by Step, Easy to do!

Do the keyserts need to be as long as the threads on the bolt?

I believe the key sert is made to have enough treads to hold the studs properly.

You can do it without removing the engine. My engine just happened to be out.

Those studs were way too shallow for aluminum! I'm tempted to believe they were backwards. Otherwise, excellent demonstration!

Can you use any Tap thread with Sert?

Tap thread must match the key serts

@@JohnnieIsBored Yes of course! As long as the tap doesnt break inside! Theres taps for starting, bottom out or in between. It all depends how deep you have to tap ​@JohnnieIsBored

@JohnnieIsBored I never use time sert. But key sert has 4 prongs you punch in so it can never turn out. Better than heli coil

Almost looks like the guy used Teflon tape to really get it to stay.
