Spent weeks trying to remove screws attached to stainless steel. I tried EZ Outs, screw extractors, rubber bands, super glue, drill bits, gloves, and the only thing that worked was using a rotary tool with cutter (Harbor Freight $10) to cut a line/slit(Phillips flathead) in the center of the screw so an Impact Driver can hold onto the screw. My screw was too short and the material was very soft. Put painters tape on the screw before using an Impact Driver(Amazon $12). This was the only thing that worked for me. Hope this helps someone out there.

A quality screw and good bit will solve 99% of these issues. Cheap Chinese screws are cause of most of these problems!
@GordyZR4 жыл бұрын
I'll add that having the bit aligned well with the screw head and then applying sufficient pressure also helps.

Absolutely agree. A good quality Phillips screw never cams out on me..minute I use a soft cheap screw I can immediately tell.

The rubber band technique.. will it also work on bigger screws? Like quarter of an inch screw?
@AlbanyCountyFasteners3 жыл бұрын
It should work, so long as the rubber band is able to fill the hole enough. Hard to say at what size this trick will cap out on though. Thank you for your feedback.

To use this type of a screw extractor, you need to drill a hole into the screw first. otherwise you'll damage it. There is another type, where you don't. Best is to have both at hand. Try first, then drill a hole and try this second type.

using a tape: If you can put a tape around your screwdriver bit and still fit it into a screw, then you are not using correct bit. No "invention" is better than using the correct and good quality bit on a screw. It would be so snug, you would not fit a hair into it and call it better.
