Brillamment fait... merci pour la vidéo! Question: lorsque vous le laviez, est-ce que c'était juste avec du savon et de l'eau ou est-ce vous avez utilisé d;autres produits? Merci!
@tjfrance5 жыл бұрын
Cordialement, T.J.

Hi. Great channel, well done. What liquid are you using for the first clean, presumably an acid? Muriatic or sulphuric
@tjfrance6 жыл бұрын
Hello, it is a mixture of several components (with different dosage for each of my 3 cleanings, strong, medium, light). In my first cleaning there is a little hydrochloric acid. I put very little to avoid attacking a layer of tin that would be too thin in some places. In addition to too much acid often gives tinning a wave-shaped design that scares people! In my second and third cleanings there is no acid. Regards, T.J.
@ElSkizzle4 жыл бұрын
@@tjfrance What else is in your cleaning mixture? Is there a simple mixture for cleaning tin?
@tjfrance4 жыл бұрын
@@ElSkizzle Hello, it's quite complicated to explain. In reality it depends on the surface to be cleaned. Grease, limestone, charred? A little dirty, a lot? In what state is the tinning below? We do not know. I use acids diluted in water. Sometimes only 1 acid, sometimes 2, mixed. Sometimes very little acid, sometimes a little more. Sometimes you have to add other ingredients. If the tin layer is actually too thin (which we cannot guess in advance), the pickling will reveal the copper. And if we simply intended to clean up, it's a failure! It will be necessary to make a new tinning. So I would say that you never really know in advance if you can simply clean it or if you will have to re-tinning it after cleaning. If you perform this operation on a tinned pot by electrolysis, the tin layer is so thin that it is not uncommon to expose the copper completely. Which does not happen with good tinning by hand. You see, there are a lot of conditions to take into account! You have to understand that tinning is like butter. Imagine that you put your butter on a small plate and you scratch the surface to make your sandwiches. The surface becomes irregular. But when you look at your butter, it still looks like butter. Until you reach the bottom and in places you will discover the plate ! The tinning of a pot can be seen in the same way. By dint of cooking, acidic food, stirring with unsuitable utensils, the thickness of tin decreases over time. Unfortunately, you never know what thickness of tin is left! Regards, T.J.

Dear Sir, It's a pleasure watching you work. I hope to attempt retinning a pan I own - please tell me; what flux do you use? Also, what is the application material, the wad/pad?
@tjfrance5 жыл бұрын
Hello, the flow is the one I make myself. For reasons of security (because it contains acids) I do not speak in public (too many children have fun making videos of dangerous experiences). The pad is glass wool (the one used to make insulation in homes). Regards, T.J.

What of the inside is smooth, no flaking cooks well, but just black as if someone cleaned it with the wrong product because it has streak marks. Otherwise, it is smooth, no dust . I tried tarnish remover , but very little grey came off.
