StrobeFX - Invented by Dr. A and Dr. Tom Hughes | Physics with Professor Matt Anderson | M28-09

So this is a toy that we invented a LONG time ago and licensed to a company named SpinMaster. The toy was called "StrobeFX" and had a great commercial run. Here's a neat site that talks about it: www.ledmuseum.net/strobefx.htm

I've seen the cardboard disc colored ⅓ red ⅓ green and ⅓ blue. Spin it fast enough and it will turn white. This is like the opposite. Neat.

Interestingly I can see the different colours flashing 'all' the time and rarely see just the white bulb. I wonder why? Perhaps either I have 'cones' that absorb colour very quickly or, and I favour this to be more likelier, this 'effect' works 'properly' only when viewed directly by the eye and not via camera sensors whose processors record using far more frames per second than us, this causes the visual effect (constant white when stationary) to be far less prominent or noticeable?

@@yoprofmatt If I get the opportunity again I may buy one of these. Have you heard of the "CMY Cubes"? Also very interesting. May think about getting one of those also.
