I bought a Gorilla Cart 5 years ago after gardening for over 20 years. BEST thing I ever did! Still have to load the cart but it dumps so most of the time I save having to unload by hand. I fill it to the max & haul it around my 2 acres with my riding mower. Maybe you could use one!

Your autumnal garden still has so much visual interest! We've had such a mild fall in the Midwest and enjoying it while it lasts. In case you might be interested Erin, there's a channel called Chateau de Dampierre (The Garden is Complete) that recently highlighted a couple of the completed garden areas as well as the transition to the woodland. The new owner is renovating the entire estate starting at the gatekeepers cottage with its garden. It'll be interesting to see how everything evolves over the next few years and what styles are chosen for gardens around the chateau itself. Made me wonder how you might design them.

I have ordered over 1200 bulbs and have 300 left so when you said a ”lot, well 25” I almost spilled all my tea all over 😂 Loove the fall colours in your garden! Lots of love from Sweden 🇸🇪

@@evalindell2757 Yeah I have no idea why I was thinking 25 was a lot although they do all have to be planted individually rather than than throw a bunch in a hole. I think after planting more than 3,000 a few weeks ago for the bulb lawn extension I was mentally finished so even a few more now seems like “a lot”.

Dug my dahlias today too, they are rinsed and drying now. I have the garlic soaking in the fertilizer mix, the bed is ready and I will plant them later today. I also straightened up a bit in the green house. My snapdragons are blooming great guns! I have one beautiful clematis bloom on my Dawn clematis. I still need to get the bulbs planted. And would like to do that before it gets tooo cold, which looks like it will happen later this week.

We got 1/2 an inch of rain yesterday. Just what things need to go to sleep for the winter. Spent my day outside covering my vegi garden beds with rabbit fertilizer and the cardboard. Life on the prairie you need to cover your raised beds or Nebraska gets all my soil. Love your videos and real life format. Thank you for helping me to become a better gardner.

Great video, Erin. Just a tip about fall delivered compost. You may cover the new pile with a tarp to prevent weed seeds, tree seeds etc from catching hold. You dont want to introduce new weeds to your garden beds. I only add compost around established plants and new plantings. Good luck 👍

Enjoyed this! Here in Delaware we are finally getting rain’👏🏼 the lack of rain lol or drought has impacted our fall in interesting ways! Some trees have great color others awful, some just brown and drop. They are dropping faster compared to last year which was warmer and a lot more rain! Love observing these difference!

I was also hoping to top dress with compost. Any suggestions on if I should blow the leaves out first, then top dress, then put the leaves back? I wish I could just add the compost to the garden on top of the oak leaves but that doesn’t seem right. Any advice?
@TheImpatientGardener
@TheImpatientGardener 3 ай бұрын
I’m of two minds here: Since you’re dealing with oak leaves (notoriously slow to break down), my thought is that it’s probably better to blow them out first. But the practical (and possibly lazy side me thinks that maybe it doesn’t matter. The compost should help those leaves break done faster. If it were me I’d probably split it down the middle and blow out areas with a lot of leaves and go over the top of the rest.
@R.Bronston

@ Thanks for your advice. I think I will blow out the leaves where there are lots, then top dress. I might not be so picky in the other areas. Love your videos and your garden. You bring me so much joy.

I am researching planting either a hornbeam or a ginkgo in a spot where a small tree will fit. There is partial shade so it would be best for an understory tree. Curious about your thoughts on benefits/drawbacks of each as I know you have both in your garden. I'm in MN zone 5a with similar growing conditions minus the lake effect. 😊
