Hello Erin So look forward to your strolls on Sunday with my coffee, especially as season winds down and we can look back and focus on our failures and victories in our gardens. So glad so see your beautiful purple bell vine it is absolutely gorgeous. I also tried last season from plant and had minimal success,but thanks to you I’m not giving up but rather switching to seed next year. Keep up the amazing work.

You still have much more color and green in your garden compared to what I do in the same plants. It just goes to show that it’s not only temperature that matters, it’s also the amount of daylight. I feel like it’s warmer here in the Pacific Northwest, but we are a lot farther north than you are, and that’s what I’m chalking it up to. 😊 I feel you on the lake view, I have just the tiniest view of the Sound because of trees primarily even though it’s just a couple of blocks away. Sure wish I could see it better. 😊

Erin, what we would do (we're in your same zone) is to cut off most of the top growth and put the roots (transplanted or in the same pot) into your Grow Room. Keep nipping off the new growth all Winter then in the Spring you have a jump on regrowth with a very healthy root system. Unfortunately we've never gotten Bell Vine seeds to start in ;late Winter - Lucky you to have this problem!!

LOL, I've seen resorts advertise their location as "ocean veiw" with less veiw of the ocean as you have for Lake Michigan. Many years ago I booked an "ocean veiw" room at a resort in Mexico. From the balcony connected to our room, you had to hang on to the railing and lean forward to see the ocean.

Magnus pays homage to Odin but Darwin is easier to say🥰 I love fall strolls. The colours are beautiful. Stay warm. It looks like the snow and deep freeze are coming this week for us here in Winnipeg. The white snow will brighten up all the gray of this time of year. Love to all the animals and kiss for Darwin.

I always get a little homesick for Wisconsin when I watch your videos. But I do enjoy the year-round gardening in NC. It looked like a Soft Caress mahonia in the pot that you were going to stash in your garage? Those do super well here in the ground as well as in large pots. Zone 8a. Not good 4 any aquatic life, fish not Water lilies. I love bring able 2 c the 'bones' of yr gardens now! I know you don't like mums, but I like my pink ones. I must say they're brown now but I hate to cut them back yet. I do need to move one that sprung up on its own, but the weather is so rainy today and it's a cold rain (we might be getting snow and had flakes earlier). Maybe instead of Magnus or Darwin, he could be Dagwood (a play on Dogwood)! Your garden tours are always so enjoyable. Today I sipped a mocha while watching. I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving! I can't believe it's coming up already.

Hi Erin, I am so jealous of your purple bell vine. I ordered it last year and had two but they did not perform as well as yours. I had spider mites. I will order them again this winter and keep trying to duplicate your beauty. Since they are a Mexican plant I wouldn’t imagine it is our heat but possible they don’t like our combo heat plus humidity plus warm nights. Fingers crossed.
@BarbsintheGardenАй бұрын
Would it be worth it to starch the growth of ferns in that one area to keep the view of lake? Since it's fall you could lay cardboard down there right before you bring in the compost mulch. It works! Then shorter ground cover could be planted in spring.
@betsymaltby6788Ай бұрын
Aside from our drought, many of my perennials are still looking good and not dying back & going into dormancy as they should be, making cutting back and cleanup confusing this year. Some of my pulmonaria foliage looks amazing. Also with the unseasonably warm temps, have already spotted galeanthus blooming, daffodils poking up & hellebores budding. Just rolling with it here in NJ zone 6b/7a. 🙃 PS: Inspired, ordered my bell vine seeds last week!
