Rather than talented, I'd say that he worked his ass off to make the best work he could do. He's obviously talented, since he was able to put together an album as heartfelt as Multitude, but I feel that giving the merit to talent is a bit unfair for the amount of effort he must have put into this album. Anyway, we both agree that the album is amazing, I just felt like I needed to say this

I'm American and fell in love in 2012 but don't know anyone here that knows him. I'm really bummed out because I listen to a lot of different types of music and the ones I know who claim to do the same actually stay stuck in one genre. What are you talking about? 95% of this is the most unmelodic “singing” I’ve ever heard. He’s just talking, and who cares what a song is about? That’s like liking a song because the album art is good lol.

@@jaredf6205 Maybe in your ears but not to a lottt of other people and liking the song for what it's about is not at all the same as liking a song because of the album art. I don't listen to stromae tons but I do listen to Zaz and not only do I adore her music I also adore what the songs are about as it says a lot about her views and beliefs as a person! Everyone experiences music differently and likes different music so it's pointless to come on here and tell people you don't like it as it's not going to change anything anyone thinks 🤷‍♀️

In each verse, he sings with a different personality, each personality eulogizing/talking about a woman(who was a sex worker) from their perspective, which makes this song a masterpiece... In verse 1: He sings like a man who has been a client of a sex worker for years. That's why he says "Everything in life can be bargained if you have money, and after all, I'm probably her best customer" In verse 2: He sings like the pimp trying to justify his trade, that's why he says, " I am the one feeding them, their lives would be mediocre without me, I give them a place to sleep ....for 50 40 30 or 20% etc.' In verse 3: He sings like a super judgemental policeman addressing the sex worker, that is why he says, "Move along now woman, take back your ID and what's left of your dignity" However, in Chorus/Bridge: He sings like a son unconditionally defending a dead mother, that is why he says, "Leave my mom alone, yes I know she's not perfect, she's a hero, and I will speak of her with pride" The genius in this is otherwordly!

But he could and should have even more people learning about his music and sharing his magic.. and yes, that huge thing that goes to every country, city and small town in this planet, starts in US.. what can we do, it's the truth. Maybe he doesn't even give a shit about getting as big as Madonna for example, but I would love to see that because I love him.. and I'm not selfish, I want the whole world to be a part of his art and what messages he is spreading. @pierinaisabel2
@pierinaisabel2 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry if there are any typos, english is not my first language! What I think is that although it is a musical sense-rhyme for enjoyment, the message is that, as the song says, judging is easy especially when you haven't tried it or experienced it. But in this case especially, is a call to attention to prostitution. The song talks about a prostitute, and in the official video it can be seen how, in front of her funeral, her "son" in this case, Stromae, sings about how her life was and the dehumanization people made and still make of her, especially the same people who "used" her service, calling her all kinds of insults. But she is a "hero", for having lived that lifestyle to which she was put into as her only (or perhaps last) alternative to survive. So, I think that the visibility of this job is what the song seeks, especially of those people who die in many ways, and sometimes, due to their conditions as prostitutes, they are not taken seriously. Is my personal appreciation ^^
@free1855
@free1855 2 жыл бұрын
@@pierinaisabel2 thank you. I was trying to understand the message. It's the 2nd song I hear from his latest album. It's the same theme about the invisible people. Those who barely manage to make ends meet, but who are the backbone of society.
@martinestarot4703
@martinestarot4703 Жыл бұрын
@@pierinaisabel2 I think it's also about single mothers and men being hypocritical. He often has lyrics that can be interpreted in more than one way. Like the part where he goes from insulting women by calling them whores but then says "Hey!Leave my mother alone!" - it's a point about the general male tendency to degrade women and even use them/objectify them, but at the same time, hate it when other men do that to the women in their lives, not seeing that every woman is a human being, just like their own mothers, daughters or sisters. Another interpretation is about the plight of single mothers-who are disrespected in society and face an uphill battle but do everything to provide for their kids, nevertheless. I read that his father basically left him and his mother when he was a kid, so it almost certainly is part of the inspiration for this song, as well as "Papa Out'ai" (Dad, where are you?), another song of his.

Почему все ненавидят меня, хотя я их кормлю? Leurs vies s’raient bien plus modestes, sans moi, elles seraient pourries Их жизнь была бы более скромной без меня, была бы пустой Le lit et la sécurité ont un prix, madame За постель и безопасность надо платить, мадам Bah oui, dans la vie, tout s’paye, on n’te l’avait donc jamais appris? Hmm Но да, в жизни за всё надо платить, тебя разве этого не сказали? On m’accuse de faire de la traite d’êtres humains Меня обвиняют в торговле людьми Mais cinquante, quarante, trente ou vingt pour cent, c’est déjà bien Но ведь пятьдесят, сорок, тридцать или двадцать процентов - это уже хорошо Faudrait pas qu’elles se prennent un peu trop pour des mannequins Не слишком ли много они на себя берут, называясь моделями Mesdames, ou devrais-je dire «putains» Дамы, или я должен говорить «шлюхи» [Refrain] [Припев] Mais oh, laissez donc ma maman Но, о-о, оставьте в покое мою маму Oui, je sais, c’est vrai qu’elle n’est pas parfaite Да, я знаю, она не совершенство, это правда C’est un héros, et ce s’ra toujours fièrement Она героиня, и я всегда буду с гордостью Que j’en parlerai, que j’en parlerai Говорить о ней, говорить о ней J’suis un fils de pute, comme ils disent, après tout c’qu’elle a fait pour eux Я сын шлюхи, как говорят, после всего, что она сделала для них Pardonne leurs bêtises, ô, chère mère Прости им их глупости, о, дорогая мама Ils te déshumanisent, c’est plus facile Они обесчеловечивают тебя, так проще Les mêmes te courtisent, et tout l’monde ferme les yeux И в то же время ухаживают за тобой, и весь мир закрывает на это глаза [Couplet 3] [Куплет 3] Je sais qu’c’est ton boulot, mais faut bien qu’j’fasse le mien, non ? Знаю, это твоя работа, но и я должен делать свою, не так ли?
