i remember this, my brother and sister in law were living in Wellington , NZ and we could not contact them for 10 days ; my mother was on the verge on putting me on a plane to NZ, just glad we heard from them on the 12th say after that eartquake

@@berenlevia8486I live in NZ and there isn’t one “main island” the two islands that make up New Zealand is referred to as the mainland while Wellington is on the North Island, it doesn’t make it as much of main island as the South Island.

That quake they're showing isn't the 22nd February 2011 ,it's the 23rd December 2011 one ,or should I say one of 2, as there were 2 main quakes that day 90 minutes apart. It was situated off the Coast in Pegasus Bay, ad that was the one that did the most damage to my town. Also locals call the South Island the mainland, as it's the largest Island, that's why South Islanders call themselves Mainlanders.

The aftershocks were 5.8 , the 2 quakes that hit that day, 90 minutes apart were 6.3 and 6.4, what also caused the damage was the speed of the quakes and the shallowness of them, at around 5km deep.
