My Mamaw grew up near Lost Creek and married my papaw and they moved to the farm that had been in our family for generations. It's right across the the river from War Creek.

I was watching this while hemming a skirt. Glanced up at the tv to see tendrils of smoke curling up on both sides of the screen. I thought a candle had caught my curtains on fire!! Nice effects, Heather….. ( You owe me some drawers. Clean ones! 😂😂😂)

My grandmother, grandfather and great uncle were murdered in Haddix back in 1978. Rachel Fugate is my first or second great grandmother but she descended from the other brother.

This is a great video Leo and Heather. There was a wonderful book written about 7 or 8 years ago titled, "Bloody Breathitt" on this same topic. It is a sad, tragic story of all the killings in BReathit County. As I recall, it did not mention the Fugate Family. This is a tragic story. Thank you.

I have followed your channel for a while now and you do a fantastic job with your content. Steven Bowling at the Breathitt co. Public library could give you in-depth information on any cemetery in this county. You might want to check out the story of Captain William “Bill”Strong born 1825 to 1897 here in Breathitt County. He was an interesting individual and deeply involved in the BLOODY BREATHITT era..

My family is buried in the Haddix cemetery. Instead of going left, go right over the hill facing the road. My grandma and grandpa Hazel Clemons Thomas and Chester Thomas are there. My dad, Wilgus Reed Thomas, some uncles and aunts are buried there as well all by my grandma and grandpa. There is another cemetery almost directly across from that cemetery on the other mountain facing that one I am told. I’ve never been there though so I couldn’t be exact, I supposedly have some cousins buried there. On up hwy 1110 there’s a bunch of Strongs that live and buried up there.

I have seen other sites where people use a flashlight to shine on the headstones that are hard to read because of awesome and what not and it helps you to read them

My husband’s mother was a Fugate. You will find many buried in Morgan County. The name has been spelled several ways. Some in Morgan may have been blue.

I wish you had a soft brush to wipe off the markers. Also, a flashlight will show the names and dates. Since I used to be a researcher for the American Archives in D.C., I can tell you it works.
@thehillbillyfiles7 ай бұрын
I use the flashlight from time to time, but I try to not touch them if I can help it. You never know when an old stone could fall over or something. Flags, flowers and stuff like that I will usually put back.

Very interesting thought about 200 years. Maybe they'll meet in resurrection. Talk about a fly on the wall for that conversation 😮

Thos. is the abbreviation for Thomas
@airbubble.2 ай бұрын
I came here to say that. Also Wm is William. Geo for George etc Lots of older names were abbreviated in written form.
