Honestly, jokes aside, Spotter Plane Des Moines are actually pretty potent in the hands of someone who has two brain cells to rub against each other. Radar is very useful of course as it makes other ships visible behind islands and smoke screens but spotter plane makes you a freaking nightmare to all ships within your increased range. Des Moines shells are SUPER-HEAVY for a reason, HE and AP. The AP hurts very badly even against battleships who show their skirts and the HE just breaks things. Just breaks shit every 5.5 seconds (or less if Adrenaline Rush kicks in) and paddles everything in sight. Spotter Planes can also spot larger targets at a significantly farther range whereas radar is limited to a set distance. The usefulness can often be questioned however but due to how many radar ships are spread around from Tier 7 (Indianapolis duh) to Tier 10s, especially with even more absurd radar ships like the newly introduced Worcester, Buffalo, Kronstahdt and the uptier Clevelands, the necessity of every Des Moines requiring radar is less and less. As a battleship main player and I don't yet own a Des Moines, (to those who are clueless or legit do not know, main = plays a certain class or role most of the time e.g. TF2 Class Mains), I find Des Moines running spotter aircraft extremely annoying and equally terrifying. But then you tell me, why not delete her? How can you delete a Des Moines when the playstyle of her is to hug islands and use that fantastic fat American arc where you can nail someone yet they can't do a damn thing except get pelted by AP for showing broadside or being shredded by HE. Its worse when you see a division of 2-3 Spotter Des Moines just raining death and destruction in safety of a smoke screen or an island and giving slow painful deaths to battleships and even big cruisers like the "Battleship" Hindenburg and Moskva within their firing range. Now of course you do want the Des Moines to be used with radar mostly as the power of the American Radar due to the action time is quite useful and if used effectively, denies every Destroyer to be near you or get absolutely manhandled if they try to risk it and now with radar modifications being available much easier via coal, that 40+ seconds of radar is a NIGHTMARE, especially with the radar meta with all these ships from Tier VII to Tier X. But, I do see the power of the spotter plane but I wouldn't use it in a competitive setting unless I was in a clan just screwing around with 4 Des Memes, a Khabarovsk and a Yamato since spotter plane is quite less effective in such a setting.

​@dominquedoty458 most battleships are a threat at close range. You only have 27mm of bow which can bounce 15 inch guns but can get overmatched by 16 inch and up. That why you play range, as the 30mm of deck can bounce plunging fire from 16inch guns.

Try comparing a Yamato and Montana max AP dpm. We see here that Yamato’s single blows are more powerful but Montana is more consistent with its salvos. Result: Montana wins It’s exactly the case right now, WG doesn’t care about their long term profit, and just cares about they’re short term, i.e adding op and fantasy tech-tree/premuim ships and they dont even care about balancing them. It consumes more money, yes, and you get less profit in this day, but hey, you get a happy player base that are willing to buy your premiums/tech tree ships that are well-balanced and there’s more of them that wants it, so basically you get more money in the end. Unfortunately, this isn’t WG, they just want more money, they dont care about their game.

I was really hesitant to try this in my Des Moines, so I tried it in my Cleveland first Never thought spotter plane Cleveland is a monster. You have range to engage any ships, hydro to counter DDs and torps, Def AA for planes, and of course Spotter Plane for the memes, spotting, and additional range. 2 games and I racked >100K damage, the numbers that I can't achieve before in Cleveland. And of course, 1 less karma for both games. I HAVE EMBRACED THE US CRUISERS -MEME- BEST BUILD

like what you posted last time, spotter works very well in random. If you ever try any form of competitive play, DDs are the game changer, because caps, so radar is still more useful. But in random, you really need extra range for all USN cruiser to get the dpm going. in competitive, it is more about winning than dpm, but in random, it is all about dpm, and exp. I saw a lot of good stats players in WTR or anything website, but they play like shit in competitive, even in ranked mode.

You should do video on the new T10 American light cruiser Worcester. This ship is pretty awesome, if played by those who have a lot of experience playing the Atlanta, understand it's weaknesses, and have the skill to take advantage of it's strengths, which are it's many Minotaur fast rapid fire, HE spitting main guns, and AA so strong, it gives Midway players nightmares; The Worcester is kind of like an Atlanta/Minotaur hybrid, as it looks a lot like the Minotaur. The play style of the Worcester tough is more like the Atlanta, as it doesn't have smoke like the Minotaur, but has HE instead, and like the Atlanta, has paper thin armor which makes this ship the ultimate glass canon, and island humper, but with incredible guns, and by far the best AA of any ship for it's tier. Like the Atlanta, the Worcester is not a noob friendly ship, and will no doubt receive a lot o hate from those who don't play right. The Worcester needs a captain with skill, patience, and balls of steel to appreciate the amount of fun you can get shredding, and burning enemy ships to the water line, as I'm experiencing With my Atlanta right now. I'm using the Atlanta as a training ship for the Worcester, so when I unlock it, I'll know how to play it right, and enjoy it as I'm having more fun with the Atlanta, as I get better with it. If you do a Worcester vid, you should use the theme song from the Team America movie, "America. Fuck Yeah!!", or any song that uses the words fire, or burning often in the lyrics. as this ship is good at burning things.

He's only implying that keeping the guns firing is more important than just hunting -loli- DDs which many often go YOLO to chase them solely to keep them spotted. As you can see he still hug islands in the video, only comes out when he gets in favorable odds. Spotter is mainly to extend the gun range if the target turns away.
