Something that would be very helpful to add to these tutorial videos is text overlays at moments where you make certain decisions, like for instance moments where you chose to slug someone, or found two survivors and decided to chase a specific one, when a survivor makes a not-so-obvious mistake and how you exploited it, why you went to a certain part of the map at some point, etc. Killer and perk choices matter a lot, but I think the ability to make swift chase decisions can easily overturn a difficult match and turn it into a win. Brilliant video as always.

While she's not easy on a mechanical level, I think Plague is still somewhat nice for newer killer players. The fact that you don't have to worry too much about keeping the pressure up in light of medkits and CoH takes away so much stress, and leaves a bit more room to practice other parts of the game, like positioning awareness and tile/map layouts.

Tips for new killers 1) KNOW your character and build and how they work so research what the killer you’re playing does and watch guides on them so you know them inside out same applies to perk builds 2) don’t worry about stacking slowdown too many slowdown perks will mean you lose vital utility such as aura reading/info perks or anti-heal perks 3) know when to drop chase if a survivor is running you for a long time maybe just drop the chase and go after their weaker teammates or if they’re bringing you to an area with nothing to defend e.g. an area with generators finished then drop it if you can’t down them quickly 4) look at where generators are and which ones you should defend and which ones aren’t worth defending a generator in a random corner isn’t worth defending vs a gen in the center of the map or a gen next to other gens 5) do your research watch guides and gameplay videos and learn from and when you lose think of what you could’ve done better the more you learn from others and yourself the better you’ll get

I was a killer main right from the beginning my adventure with DBD (about two-three years ago) and I recently struggled a lot with a killer, facing good survivors and being left on one or two hooks at the end of the game and I was ready to give up killer cause it felt impossible to play it anymore, until I catched Otz on stream, watching games of other fans and telling them tips and advices. What was coming out in almost every game was that the killer was too nice/not focused enough on using survivor mistake against them. I started following that guidance, by being merciful until everything was obvious in the match, that I'm going to win, than I could be friendly, give people hatch and have fun. And I'm having fun, my games changed 180° and obviously I still lose awfully from time to time, I made my peace with it. And I really think that replay system in DBD is awfully much needed, being able to watch what exactly survivors did in the game analis it and rule out the cheaters would a fantastic tool. Thanks Otz once again for saving my DBD career, you're amazing!

When I read "beginner & intermediate killers" I wasn't sure if you meant based on killer tier list, killer "difficulty" (as indicated in-game), or player skill level. Wasn't really expecting "a little of each." Hardest part for me is still knowing when to commit to chase and when to leave. To be fair, I haven't been practicing, but it feels bad to leave someone right in front of you to go look for someone who might not be where you think. Dunno why but in this video, all of the audio cues felt like they were louder than usual, and coming from different angles. A gen to your right sounds like it's behind you, and a vault to your left sounds like it's on your right. Back when I was into Overwatch, watching pro players give breakdowns on newer/lower ranked players gameplay was actually some of my favorite content. It's one of the better ways to get examples of "here's what you *shouldn't* do and what you *should* do instead" for those odd situations, those situations where the best thing to do is different from the general guideline. Since you're already reviewing that content for some players (presumably on stream), what do you think about uploading a few of your favorite examples (assuming the player is up for it)?

Hi OTZ, I have a genuine question about MMR. Back about a year and half ago when MMR officially released, everyone HATED IT because it was super strict. Extremely good survivors would always have medkits, meta perks, and play against Nurse, blight and spirit mainly. It was unfun for the top MMR because of the lack of variety to be there in the first place. However *NOW* I literally see everyone complaining about MMR because they lowered the soft cap so there's a wide variety of people there. Mainly anyone who knows how to play the game at its core can pretty easily get there. So a lot of killers will get easy survivors, or sometimes strong survivor SWFs will get baby killers, and visa verse... But, isn't this current MMR the same as the rank system DBD had a few years back? The only difference being your rank is now hidden, and a secret number between 800-3000 or something, and "Red Ranks" ... and some purple ranks, are the soft 1600 cap or whatever it may be. It feels like we're back to the same matchmaking we used to be in a few years back, the only difference being it's now secret and hidden. Why is everyone always annoyed at this?

Hey, Wesker main here and I have some advices for anyone who plays Wesker, it doesn't matter if you are a beginner or an advanced player, I have a build for you with different variations! On Wesker's build I would change Corrupt Intervention with Starstruck and Awakened Awareness with Distressing (I wrote it Distortion before editing this comment, so yeah, it was so funny not to mention it here), those 2 perks that you're using Otz, are kinda useless... So, this build is better: -Starstruck (when you pick a survivor up, all of the survivors within your terror radius become exposed, you don't actually need noed and to be fair it's better than noed) -Distressing (instead of a 40m terror radius, you get a 50m terror radius, synergise well with Starstruck and especially, especially with this killer) -Noed (this one you can actually change, a better perk to use is actually Blood Warden and it gives you a different playstyle if you use Blood Warden) -Infectious Fright/Barbeque/Awakened Awareness or other perks to track survivors faster My favorite build on Wesker, and it's an advanced build, it's not quite easy to play because I don't have any gen regression perks or perks that are overpowered. I like to use: -Awakened Awareness (to see survivors within my terror radius while picking and carrying downed survivors) -Barbeque (to see immediately after hooking that survivor what the other survivors are doing) -Starstruck because I said, on Wesker is a really good perk -Mad Grit (for toxic survivors who don't understand what Exposed status means, and they shouldn't come for flashlight saves or for bodyblocking the hook)

TBH, if you have that many teachable perks level 3 and addons to spare you are no longer a beginner. Dare I say, back when I got BBQ back in the day and see myself years later, the difference of meta/fundamental play has been minimal. If anything there is a constant of Killer using regression while survivors use chased base perk which make it seem that instead of playing “the game” we just play some sort of “perk roulette” game. Or to say it more simple, at high level using certain perks makes a bigger impact than personal knowledge.

My biggest problem is I only play in short bursts and so never really got good at mind gaming, knowing the tiles and the right thing to do and when. I started as killer main, now I play a lot of survivor too. I mostly just go for whatever has the BP incentive now tbh. I main Sadako mostly because I love Ringu but realize that on top of still trying to learn the game, Sadako has a lot of downsides. I've definitely had times where I feel like I'm at such a disadvantage because of playing a certain killer, being paired with certain squads, items, perks, etc, etc but you have really helped me understand how to work around these shortcomings my best. I can't really change that as Sadako I'm often weak against these meta perks, good squads, and items but try and bring my own set of tricks and know that I can always improve. Hey Otz, to summarize the biggest problem with playing Killer it would be what happened in your first game. They were 2 gens left by the time you had 2 hooks. They weren't even all on gens the entire time, but rather off the gens to try to save their teammates, yet still were able to crank 3 gens that quickly. I think that playing killer is less of a skill issue and more of the fact that gens are too easy to rush and the game can be over by your third chase if you get really good survivors/maps with tons of good loops.

As someone maining plague since her drop, I really don't think this build takes advantage of advantages. Pop + Tinkerer is cool on her seeing as survs are often just injured on the gens, but a lot of her strength comes from her passive pressure. You want perks that are regressing gens passively or from a distance. She still gets a lot of value from thano. I get the point is to make a budget build, but doing things manually like vaulting for bamboozle, or kicking gens for pop, go against everything that makes her an oppressive zoner. This build is using a bulldozer like a hammer

You don't need to switch killers to have fun! :) It just takes practice and finding the best perk combo for your play style. For example, I have mained Onryō since I began playing Killer even though I had heard overwhelming responses that she was one of the worst in the roster. I still have bad games but very few, so just pick whichever killer you think is cool and keep at it! I mostly use Sloppy Butcher, Bloodhound, Jolt and Overcharge/Stridor. For me, it's all about being aggressive and hunting them down while having one or two gen regression perks. Works well on Spirit too!

Thanks, I have been trying to make a legion build that works because they are my favorite killers.

thank you for that legion build, this'll help me as a beginner!

50:13 the only part thats "hard to follow" is all the insanely precise knowledge you have, like with tinkerer timings, tile generations, infection rates etc

So, a point that Otz didn't bring up in this video (but has likely brought up elsewhere) for new killers is that as a new/beginner player, every killer he mentioned requires you to spend more money in a game you just started playing. Nurse, Huntress, and Trapper are all starter killers, but for different reasons, aren't viable for starting players. This issue also applies to other starter killers though, you have to already be a certain level of skilled to be successful with them, and as a new player, that's just not likely. I'm not saying "buff all base killers" but compared to most of the newer ones, some sensible reworks might be in order to get newer players more interested without having to spend additional money (since all the beginner killers he recommended, require you to pay more right off the start of playing the game). I'll give, with how Nurse's "nerf" went, they may make Trapper worse somehow, but hey, we can dream right?

Tbh if you're starting with very low mmr (as in you played 3 drunk Michael Myers games back in 2017), it's easy to get "wins" with anything. I found Wraith to be super effective, same with Clown and Myers (i just like to listen to him breathe okay). Whispers is super useful if you're as horrible at tracking as I am. Jolt really helps. I played like maybe ten games of killer with Devour hope never being broken at all at zero level. But ye of course learning to play is more than just getting wins

The Nea in endgame chat said "пока" (pronounced paká (the "a's" like in the word "after")), which means "bye". Sometimes people also say "пока пока".

How I learned to play was to pick a killer and do awful with them no perks or add-ons until I understood how I needed to play them well enough. And then I picked only add ons and perks that don't change how I'm supposed to play, but rather makes me do my normal play faster. I think for Trapper I just picked the speedy placement and bag, Enduring, Brutal Strength, Agitation, and Fire Up

Running the mangled add on gives you 15 seconds out of cloak on wraith to get the hit and apply it. Also it slows down healing more than sloppy butcher.

1:45 LEGIOS LET'S GOOOOOOO! Legion if you know the add-ons is very reliable. Not extremely strong, but very consistent if you don't get the 3 largest maps.

Otz: just needs to continue chasing straight for 5 more seconds to bruteforce a down. Also Otz: “I’m gonna mindgame the heck out of this tile”.

No Im sorry, how is 21:17 not a hack for perfect dead hard timing, thats ridiculous, the odds of that are just too insane
@KURRDA Жыл бұрын
Not really, it’s not easy to do but it’s definitely predictable since Otz tends to always wait out the DH. An experienced survivor can usually 50/50 guess when a killer’s gonna swing if they’re trying to wait out DH
@LSZreduction Жыл бұрын
@KURDA sure, which would mean they guessed 5 times correctly in a row, estimating each trial as independent and like you say 50/50 each trial, 0.5^5=0.03125 or 3%. However this is being generous since time is virtually continuous here, meaning he could have swung at any t=t* between basically t=[0,15] seconds, so saying he only had to guess correctly 5 times is being very generous, he had to guess correctly at every single t, 3% is being extremely generous.

@@LSZreduction dude, idgaf about the math. It’s just luck. A lucky guess on when to press the E key - that’s it.

The thing is that toxic survivors will teach new killers bad habits with their behaviors
@JCglitchmaster Жыл бұрын
If survivors were willing to teach killers in a non-dick way sure. But I've only had 1 experience across survivors and killers where survivors steam rolled the killer and instead of being cunts about it, they actually tried to help the killer improve by giving them tips on where they went wrong and how they can improve.
@SongInstrumentals4U Жыл бұрын
I don’t mind going against difficult survivors it just seems that the better players always seem to be the ones that BM and act super toxic for no reason
@felsics9441 Жыл бұрын
Very true. I remember going against a legitimate comp squad (listed on their steam profiles) that was screwing with me as i learned Huntress. I learned about a lot of techs that game, lol.

When I was a beginner, the perk and killer that gave me wins was pyramid head with Lethal Pursuer, Discordance, Bitter Murmur/Nurse's Calling, and Jolt. I just use the yellow and brown addons
