He actually cooked them in the galley in the morning. I was totally impressed and thought what a great idea. @EsaRino-g7z27 күн бұрын
In my opinion, it surely depends on where you are in Austria. The capital, obviously, is quite.. let’s call it “Austrian airlines friendly”. Decent destination offers, decent schedules, etc. but the further away you get from Vienna and their hub, the worse the offers get. I’m close to innsbruck airport (though tiny.. still international) and let me tell you…every time it’s getting close to “it’s time to visit the homeland and the fam in England”.. finding flights (from Innsbruck) becomes an almost impossible task. Either they have you fly to Frankfurt and continue to Manchester from there, or they only fly to any of the airports in London. It’s almost easier to just take the train to Munich and hop on a direct Lufthansa or easyJet flight to Manchester there. Nowwww, whether or not Salzburg has the same problem isn’t for me to say, because I’ve never been to that airport… or, well.. at least not the new one. Last time I’ve been to Salzburg airport, Lauda air has roamed the skies still lol. Lastly, I wanna recommend an Austrian beer for when you’re here next.. try Stiegl. The one you had on this flight is considered… (to put it as kindly as possible) a homeless persons beer 😂

In my opinion, Austrian Airlines is one of the best European airlines. Their fleet is rather small, which is due to the weak market situation in Vienna. Austrian will soon only operate the 787 on long haul, E195 and A320F on short haul. They are in the process of phasing out all the old 767 and 777.
@paullewis2413Ай бұрын
I’ve flown Lufthansa and Swiss business class long haul and found Swiss better for overall comfort and service. Haven’t tried Austrian as they don’t serve my usual route. Over the years I’ve experienced many airlines, those that have stood out from the rest are Canadian (now defunct) Qantas (before they declined dramatically) and currently Air France, excellent all round.

At Schwechat airport you can't really compare the old D gates with the facilities at the newer Terminal 3. Leaving from the old gates is a travel back in time as well. To my knowledge the lounges at vienna airport are a mess right now due to the ongoing constructions - the old lounge was outdated and was in desperate need of renovation. The new lounge will be built in the newly constructed part of the airport and the lounges currently existing are their solution to bridge the time. Kind of a lousy solution in my opinion considering that construction will likely take multiple years. Also all of Austrians longhaul flights used to depart from the F/G Gates. I am not entirely sure if the change was made due to covid or due to the ongoing constructions on the airport as the most frequently used Gates before the construction like F1 or F3 don't exist anymore or at least are currently not in use.

Is it easy to use the railroad from the airport to the city? I’m staying at the Grand Hotel Wien, which is next to the State Opera House. Or is it better to just take a taxi? 2. You mentioned the security confusion at Vienna Airport for flights to the States. What should I be aware of? I usually leave myself three hours. The menu offers a choice of Lettuce (could hardly believe they offered 'Lettuce' as a course rather than some sort of more complete salad) OR Smoked Salmon, and Soup listed as a separate course (no OR on the menu) but it appears that the crew put all 3 items on the trolley therefore making the soup an OR item rather than a separate course as the menu would imply. Then the second service. A drink as one of the courses(!) followed by a choice of pork or pork. (The type of sausage is not specified - not good - but almost certainly pork and the salad contained ham). The type of meat in the sausage should have been stated and there should not have been the same type of meat for both of the choices.
