Cell membrane is selectively permeable while cell wall is freely permeable. Cell wall is present in plants, fungi or bacteria but not in animals while cell membrane are present in all types of organisms. Cell wall is rigid, provides, structural strength while cell membrane is flexible and allows for endocytosis or exocytosis to happen as well.
