When it comes to art and drawing and styles. It doesn’t matter if other people like your style it doesn’t matter if your art is cruddy what matters is that you had fun making it and that you like your art. As long as you aren’t abusing basing or other people’s style, you should t have to feel like you should push yourself to make your art into what other people like, because it’s not you then.

As an artist I always struggle with feeling like what I do isn't enough and there has to be some sort of complexity to make my art "better". I like doing a cartoony style, but I've been feeling empty because it didn't feel like my art was as realistic. Hearing you talk about that really helped me and made me feel more confident! When I look at art I like, I always feel like their work is always perfect and they never have any doubt. I'm still going to keep experimenting to see what else I like in my art journey and I just really wanted to thank you for being a great inspiration to me!!

In case it helps in those moments of style quandary: you followed the rule of thirds in the composition and created enough difference in sizes to achieve a great hierarchy and a nice sense of depth without loosing at all your lovely and very personal flat style. I mean, if anyone sees the illustration out of context they'd know it's yours. That takes DECADES to many illustrators! Also, love the dark silhouettes on the front :) I always add them to my illustrations because it reminds me to vintage graphic adventure games and it adds a very nice touch in this piece 🔥

I used to live in Alaska, and it's full of Birch trees. I think they're really beautiful and they're often covered in knots that look like eyes which is my favorite part because it makes it spooooky.
