Honestly, how do people get bogged on Fraser. 12psi max, low range for when it looks soft or choppy. Steady throttle in manual cars. That's all I ever do and I've never been bogged, except when my dad cooked my clutch.

Just before the carpark for the pub it was soft and the car got bogged down, he decided low range was too good, so he burned the clutch instead. He managed to limp it back to camp and halfway to the barge before it got fully cooked. We then had our mate tow us the rest of the way. Had to call the tow truck to get across though, as they wouldn't let us be towed on.

Agree but when a mate had an accident up there a few years ago the Cop Dogs asked him if his tyre pressures were as per manufacturers spec , lucky he was clever enough to know the pricks were trying to stitch him up so avoided that answer .

Went thru there last september in a 99 duel cab hilux, manual na diesel. 15psi 3rd low range. Floored it all the way through, no issues. Went through and back. Was just very bumpy. My parents 105 lc would’ve been the same if the clutch didn’t cook on the way back.

I can remember as a kid seeing many old blokes back in the early 90s and late 80s in their old landies running split rims just idling through Indian head and crawling through ngkala (the old track which was harder) never having too much bother

@@waddney4121 I had a series 3 short wheel base and it used to go all over the island, slowly. When you only had 70hp to play with slow crawl was the way to go. Most of these modern cars look like they have ram raided ARB the amount of life enhancing shit they have hanging off them. They would weigh twice what an old Landy would weigh. That was back in the day when you were pissed before you got off the barge. Now I would not bother with the island if you paid my barge fee, it's a sand pit full of morons.

Lake Mackenzie isnt anywhere near as nice as I remembered and there wasn't alot of infrastructure back then either.. ive got photos back when I was 4yrs old drinking xxxx throw downs ontop of the dunes (only water of course🙄🤫)

The two landcruisers I've had have been useless in sand in low range. Centre diff lock ok but locks need to be off front and rear. This combination and a light throttle keeps it on top of the sand. It seems like many here don't know what works for their vehicle.

I'd probably add that they're always dragging their rear leaf springs through everything. If you've followed a 70 on soft sand tracks on Fraser and they always make one mark with the front wheels, a different one with the back, and inside of both are leaf spring marks. And once you get hung up on a leaf spring it takes weight off the wheel.

The purple one is a winch extension strap. Looks like they joined it to a snatch strap at the car. Allows them to recover one vehicle without risking the second. I am still watching.... See how they go.
