I'm left handed, I use either a fountain pen or a mechanical pencil. Smudging is a feature of my neat, well-formed writing. If the other 90% population has a problem with that, then deal with it. I use a LH scissors, I've adapted to using a mouse device with my RH. There are certain power tools I can't use, so I get someone else to use them when required.

Yes indeed, I am lefthanded and: - I have defenitely gotten my sleeve wet turning on the water to do the dishes, while I was not paying attention - I went into a more advanced art program for our equivalent of High School. We would often enough have to use graphite or charcoal - I had a white winter coat, if I forgot to take it out, my sleeve would be grey by the end - those chairs with the attached writting support thing were the bane of my existence. In university, the lecture halls had ones the you pulled up, but they were always on the right side and provided no support to take notes. I would have to hope bo one sat directly to my left, so I could use that seat's pull up writting support to write more confortably - Eating and writting with someone sitting on your left requires indeed a lot of care - the spirals on the notebooks aren't the greatest, but I've been dealing with it so long, I'm able to tune it out somewhat - And finally, I'm the type of lefthanded that sports coaches would be dismayed at because, even if I was fit and any better that okay at any given sport, I'm a type of ambidextrous I don't remember the name for, so I can only write, paint and draw with my left hand, but I'm righthanded at most things sport - dribbling, kicking a soccer ball, badmington raquets, serving at volleyball, etc- no (aparently highly coveted) natural advantage to be had
