I have noticed you're getting the Palindrome numbers in your videos and so am I. If you can try to look up the repeating numbers you see to try to apply the meaning to what you're experiencing to help guide you. Hi 😊South African here! Mr Linda was a great friend and tour guide for you but I just want to add something. Not all townships are like that as he stated. There are different townships with different types of houses that we have. Not all black townships have people that are hungry and have nothing. There are different parts just like in the states but Alex is one do those bad ones. South Africa is huge and we have different types of lives. All the best with your travels.

Dope video! I came out here to Joburg solo in December 23’ to celebrate my bday from the states. I bought a one way ticket + really didn’t know what to expect. The plan was to hit all of the Amapiano festivals in Joburg, Cape Town + Durban… From the moment I got in the Uber to the hotel in Sandton, I was pleasantly surprised… I made friends with the kids who worked at the hotel + they took me out for an amazing night. Sandton was nice, but too much like America for me, so I relocated to the hotel that you are summarizing from. I had such a blast that I asked the front desk about a furnished apartment in the hotel. I still live at the hotel! Happily entering my 2nd year in Joburg… Of course this place has its downsides, but I absolutely love it + found my home. When it’s right, you will know. ❤

As an African in US for decades I have experienced if not worse what you have experienced in SA. I have had African Americans friends break their promise, stood me down, no showing up, cancel plans at last minute and not pay me back money I borrowed them including my former pastor. I cannot begin to count time I have given a Black brother a business and was disappointed by service, somebody will claim to be a plumber but end up doing more damage than fixing or getting paid and disappear before completing the task. I remember my days in college when I was doing entrance level service jobs, some Black customers would not only tip me less but also display uncivil, over demanding, and rude behaviors. The Africa left when I moved to diaspora has changed, people nowadays are more dishonesty. materialistic and less communal change, I have also met many good AA; it means good and bad apples are in every society and SA is not exceptional.

Thank you for being honest. As someone who moved out of this US, I can identify with all of the ways you don't quite feel at home in SA. Being an ambitious black american woman is puts you in a different category for sure. Also, I feel like people who do content around travel try really hard to either make everything look like paradise or the opposite. I really appreciate your candor and pov
@dinaledi40853 күн бұрын
What do you mean when you say being an ambitious black American woman affect put you in a different category in SA ?
@pivotwithme3 күн бұрын
@@dinaledi4085 Personally, I moved to Europe where a lot of black men haven't had many opportunities so it's hard to find someone who is earning equal or more than you, to partner with. Culturally, I feel like there is an expectation that I not be as self-confident or that I should act more 'humble' solely because I'm black. But growing up in the US has taught me that my dreams and aspirations are not unattainable and that I do have the right to pursue what I wish. Not sure about SA but I can empathize with Jasmine's frustrations around partnering and culture shock in that aspect.
@dinaledi40853 күн бұрын
@pivotwithme I can assure that highly educated and wealthy black women are not an anomaly in SA so she wouldn't be in a category of her own here. 7 of the top 10 universities in Africa are in SA and those campuses are dominated by black SAn women. We have the highest number of black female politicians and parliamentarians on the continent . We have black female professionals from STEM to the Military . The first black female Navy captain in SA was a black SAn .We have black female mine owners , wine makers etc. The first African female fighter pilot is a black SAn. Mind you this is not new. The first African female to acquire a Science degree in the US was a SAn called Charlotte Maxeke and that was in the early 1900s. Black SA men were already going to the US universities because SA wasn't allowing blacks to study further. and they made it possible for black females to follow. Black SA men love ambitious women that's why our BEE policies even grant a high score to black female owned businesses. It would be laughable for any woman in SA to say she can't find a black man because she can't find a black man to match her financial status or level of education.
@dinaledi40853 күн бұрын
@pivotwithme I can assure you that black SAn dollar millionaires both male and female are not an anomaly in Johannesburg. If you can't see them then you are simply not in the multimillionaire circles. Who's fault is that ?
@pivotwithme3 күн бұрын

I think it's all about perception because I've seen slum neighborhoods in Chicago I've seen them in Mexico I've seen them in the D.R I think it's all across the globe there's always going to be rich neighborhoods in poor neighborhoods and some are lucky enough to never know the difference I guess. Take Las Vegas for example in the US the strip is full of multi-million dollar hotels but there's a whole community of homeless people living beneath them in tunnels. It makes no sense right how can a city that generates so much money not have anywhere for these people to go for some of them it's a personal choice but not all. They're down there living in the slums. Africa gets a bad rap and it's sad because it is beautiful, to me it's like anywhere else in the world where you have good neighborhoods and not so nice neighborhoods. Anyways glad to finally see this experience I've been waiting on this update/vlog for a while ❤️

Both the slum of Johanesburg as the slum of Chicagoo are mainly occupied by blk people. I find this isad because it shows that our blk people are "mentaly" poor. It's not a lack of opportunities; it's truly a deficiency in the mindset of blk people worldwide that explains their situation. We shall never blame other races (Whites) for exploiting us because we allow them to do so. It's all in our mindset.

My boys and I had a very scary experience on our way to our hotel in Sandton from the airport. It’s very sketchy in some areas and in Sandton fences were all around. The people were nice, the food was great we ate at Tasha’s at least twice during our visit. We went to Soweto to the safari and we also went to Capetown. Soweto is a township. Alexandria is a slum. Soweto is a formal municipal planning urban peri settlement. Alex is a slum,people just arrived and settled. Soweto is no different from other Ghettos like Compton and brooklyn which were planned for blacks and were largely made up of low cost housing. Slumd in the other hand are prevalent in South America India and Africa. South Africa is the only country in Africa that exhibits all these diffefent types of settlements. There are no housing valuations in slums but there are valuations in townships
