I've been living in the country for over 40 years now. When I first moved here I had visions of all kinds of natural gardening. One year when I was growing broccoli I got up one morning and it was covered with worms. I turned to my Rhodale's Organic Gardening Handbook. They suggested dusting the plants with self rising flour. I did and the worms burst from the flour. I'm binge watching your channel, I enjoy it very much.

Thanks for this tip! I honestly have never heard about using flour to kill worms. I will have to try this.

It is so helpful to me to have this information. Of when to start, what one would look like when planting, and how long they are in your garden before harvesting. Sometimes the information on the back of the seed packet is just wrong.

Thats why I make these videos. I'm so happy it was helpful.

Hi Jerra, I’m a newbie to your channel and I can’t believe I just found it. I follow a lot of other local FL gardening people, so I’m not sure how I missed you. Your videos are great and super helpful. Do you have any recommendations for any smaller types of cabbages, not Napa, but regular cabbages just smaller heads? I’m in Seminole, Pinellas county 10b. Also, I’d love to know your pho recipe!

I didn't have grow lights and my first set were stretching....Got those grow lights and wow, what a difference.
@JerrasGarden5 ай бұрын
Yes! Grow lights were a game changer for me when it comes to starting seeds.

Thank you, you've given me the confidence to try growing cabbage from seedlings this year.

You can do it 💪

This is great info! Just a heads up though, even organic fertilizer can burn plants if you use too much (but generally you have a little more wiggle room than with highly concentrated synthetics because most organic fertilizers have lower concentrations, and are slower release)
@JerrasGarden5 ай бұрын
True but it takes a lot of organic stuff to burn plants. I use pretty frequently and have not burned anything yet.

Hi Jerra, I have my corn growing in my seed starting trays and noticed some little ants, what should I do about them?
@JerrasGarden5 ай бұрын
What kind of ants? If its sugar ants lay out some traps. All the rest setup the green traps on stakes and sprinkle granules around.

Do nematodes get into your grow bags?
@JerrasGarden5 ай бұрын
They can get into grow bags and containers. Don't have any in the grow bags in this video but I had one last year where I was growing luffa that got some.

My cabbages never form head and leaves have holes all over😢
@JerrasGarden5 ай бұрын
I'm going to guess your timing was off so make sure your planting/growing them at the correct time of year. The holes are caused by worms so spray with BT.
