Watch this before growing broccoli in your own home backyard garden!
This garden tutorial teaches you everything you need to know from how and when to sow seeds, how to pick the best cultivar for your garden, common pests and diseases, how to know when broccoli is ready for harvest, and how to fertilize plants for maximum production. I especially share my pro tips for how to be successful growing broccoli in warm climates because it can be very challenging. Whether you're an experienced gardener or just starting out, this video is full of valuable tips and clever techniques to walk you through the entire process.
Garden zones 3-7: Sow seeds indoors for broccoli 10-12 weeks before your last spring frost date
Garden zones 8-11: Transplant broccoli in fall. So that means sow seeds 10-12 weeks before end of September or early October. For accuracy, find the first month in fall, where your maximum average high temperature is at 85F or below. This is the target month to transplant broccoli seedlings into the garden. Backtrack 10-12 weeks before this, to sow seeds indoors.

I do the same because my garden is small and I love when a plant can provide many different types of crops. I love my greens luckily! I had a kohlrabi that never bulbed up but grew many side shoots with massive leaves (it was just too hot for it to bulb when I planted it) but I got to enjoy its leaves for nearly a year! It supplemented my collards perfectly towards my goal of growing enough greens for a year.😊

I pinch the flowers and grow for the leaves only. I chop leaves into roughly 1"x1" pieces and freeze. They don't clump because the leaves are waxy. I have broccoli all winter long for soups, chillies, salads and smoothies. Leaves are far far more dense in nutrients than the flower heads.

Hopefully i got the right kinds for my area. Thanks again. Is cauliflower, cabbage and Kohlrabi the same as broccoli?

Are those broccoli plants almost as tall as you are? I am growing two plants for the first time and don't know how tall they get. Also, one of the two are developing a head and the other isn't. Do you know what I can do to get this one to create a head.
@JerrasGarden

Yes, broccoli plants get very big. They tend to start producing heads randomly and staggered. That is completely normal, just let them be. I prefer it that way because otherwise I would be stuck with a huge amount of broccoli at once.
