This is the only Strymon delay pedal I haven't tried yet. It was about time. I'm presently surprised!
I was very inspired and it was so easy to create 10 different snippets.

Really glad you did this, Antoine: Brigadeer sometimes gets overlooked because of El Cap, but it is every bit as useful and beautiful - the Brig is usually my "always on" delay.

I have also the Dig and the El Capistan - I love both but I will definitely get the Brigadier, it is a very fine and smooth delay pedal, all of them are somehow very different ... Great video , thank you ! ...

Really enjoy your videos Antoine! I’ve been using this delay pedal for the last year and absolutely love it. Hold down the tap button for an infinite repeat with increasing gain. Get yourself a Saturnworks Favorite switch plugged into the EXP jack for a saved preset. The mod button works best at 9:00 and 3:00, but can get pretty weird if you want it to. The magic happens when you increase the Bucket Loss.

Thanks for those tips! I also love to use it with 5 seconds delays, and to use the bucket loss knob secondary function to roll off the highs and get darker tones!

Great video as usual!! But I got a question.. which would be the best of the three mini delay-brothers of Strymon (Dig, Brigadier, El Capistan) for worship-ambient style music?

I would say it's the DIG, because you've got 2 delays in 1, which gives you more options to blend the delays together and create textures. The El Cap and Brigadier shine more on their lo-fi side, in my opinion (which is also why I like them so much!)

Great video. I always come back here when I switch on the brigadier. By the way, which one do you think is the best option for a secon delay to stack with the Brigadier? I was considering memory lane but maybe they are too close.

Yes, that would be very close. I would go with something cleaner to contrast it. Something that can can do ping pong delays to widen up the stereo spectrum like the Strymon DIG, or any stereo digital delay, really. If you don't like pure digital, look for a tape delay instead!

Great video! I’ve never been a Strymon fan and have been looking at the Rubberneck, Memory Lane JR and smaller MemoryMan. Although, the Brig isn’t as rich as say a Skreddy Echo, it’s pretty damn close. I like the top jacks and how dead quiet it is. It seems like a pretty simplistic pedal as well? Which I really want….thank you

As someone that's mained a Timeline for years and years and just recently picked up an El Cap for a portable/travel board, yes and no. Comparing to the El Cap, there's a dTape setting on the Timeline, and, as seen by some of Antoine's other videos, they can be pretty close. However, with the El Cap, there are some additional options and some neat "hidden" features. The Brigadier is no different. Same with the Volante. They're bigger, more feature-rich versions of a single delay. If you find you legitimately *always* use the dBucket sounds on the Timeline, it'd be worth a switch, unless you need presets and MIDI. If you want a second delay and want this kind of sound, it's a great pedal. If you're happy with what you have, there's zero need to switch over. The best tool is the one you're familiar with.

Full article "Does TimeLine have all of the features of El Capistan, Brigadier, and DIG?" from Strymon blog: The TimeLine is a multidimensional digital delay with 12 unique and fully tweakable delay machines with some delays that have similar settings to our smaller delay pedals. The dTape mode within TimeLine will feature the Single head sliding machine, with full control over each parameter. El Capistan is a dedicated tape echo experience, giving you more in-depth control over tape echo sounds, including the Multi-head modes, Fixed head modes, Sound on Sound, and spring reverb. The analog bucket brigade delay sounds from the Brigadier are available in the TimeLine’s dBucket setting. On the Dig dual delay, the tone of the delays are different than those on the TimeLine’s DUAL delay machine. The closest to the TimeLine’s Digital machine is the DIG’s 24/96 setting, however, it has some subtle dynamic ducking of the delays that the TimeLine’s Digital setting does not. Feature-wise, the DIG has the unique digital voicings for 24/96, ADM, and 12 bit delays, the ability to set the output configuration to ping pong between the left and right outputs when used in stereo, and the Golden Ratio tap division which provides delays that will never step on the repeats for getting a great ambient sound with long trails.

Folks often say this is a sleeper but I think it’s for good reason. El Cap is so tweakable, has a spring verb - so many sounds in there. 2 types of mod. Brigadier could have gone further in terms of control. Could have control of gain / distortion, maybe mod speed control as a 2ndary param. I’m sure there’s something else I’m not thinking of too that could have been added in.
