This video is the wonderful statement of the current state of bluegrass music. It's a highly improvisational art form native to the USA, and Bluegrass musicians of this caliber are among the best on the planet

It's also super cool the way Stuart Duncan comes in at the end to remind everybody what the hell song this is

And I think it's totally gnarly how the sax player has a different slant on things

EXCEPT FOR STUART DUNCANS' BREAK NONE OF THE OTHER 4 PLAYS ANYTHING REMOTELY LIKE THE MELODY OF LEE HWY . BLUES . TOTALLY UNRECOGNIZABLE FOR ANYONE NOT READING THE TITLE OF THE TUNE BEING PLAYED .AWFUL

That's called improvising. It's what talented musicians like this strive to do at a high level. Playing off of each other and inspiring each other. They challenge themselves and each other. They, unlike some people, are constantly learning and wanting to grow and know more. If you think this video is out here for close-minded purists who get fussy about change, then yeah, they are playing awful. But it's not, and they're not.

NEVER SAID THEY WERE PLAYING AWFUL . LEE HWY. HAS A VERY DISTINCT MELODY , AND NO ONE BUTDUNCAN PLAYED ANYTHING LIKE THAT MELODY . HUGE NUMBER OF NOTES , BUT NO MELODY. ANYONE REALLY GOOD CAN PLAY EXTEMELY FAST AND CLEAN , IF THEY DONT EVEN TRY TO PLAY THE MELODY OF A TUNE THAT HAS A VERY RECOGNIZABLE MELODY@@TheDoctor77
