Wesley for our time. I love Stuart Townend's hymns and songs. They have so impacted my own Christian walk and it's been a joy to lead others in worship with them. Thank you Stuart and may God continue to fan your amazing gift into flame!

modern worship worship tends to have the habit of detractring from its' own meaning; the focus being more on the song and the tune...how envigorating it is to hear a truly powerful hymn with lyrics that reflect the divine and greet us with truth. Hallelujah!
@blakeedmondson95734 жыл бұрын
You do realize this hymn was written this century. I agree that a lot of modern Christian music focuses on melodies and hooks instead of depth. But Townsend writes deep and doctrinally sound music

Oh to see the dawn of the darkest day Christ on a road to Calvary. Tried by sinful men, torn and beaten then Nailed to the cross of wood. This the power of the cross, Christ became sin for us, took the blame bore the wrath We stand forgiven at the cross. Oh to see the pain written on your face. Bearing the awesome weight of sin. Every bitter thought every evil did. Crowning your blood stain brow. This the power of the cross, Christ became sin for us, took the blame bore the wrath We stand forgiven at the cross. Now the day light flees, now the ground beneath Quakes as its maker bows his head Curtain torn into, dead are raised to file. Finished. The victory cry. This the power of the cross, Christ became sin for us, took the blame bore the wrath We stand forgiven at the cross. Oh to see my name written in the woods. For through your suffering I am free. Dead are crushed to death, life is mine to live. Won through your selfless love. 翻譯成中文

One of the things I admire most in Stuart's music is his simplicity, as an artist, but mainly as a worshiper. He seems very sincere through the lyrics of his songs. GOD BE PRAISED!

I love this song. I have been singing it every day trying to learn the words and melody. I bought a CD to sing with so I can sing a solo at church. It won't be as professional as you but hope I sound ok. Ii usually sing with piano accompaniment so singing with a CD is hard for me as you have to sing the way the song is written and stay with the music. With piano accompaniment the pianist follows the soloist which I prefer. If singing to this CD goes well I may try to do it again. I really enjoy

The Father was never angry with Christ. Nor did the Father pour out His wrath on the Son. The Passion is Christ’s greatest act of love, the greatest revelation of the heart of God, and the glory of Christ. So when Christ was on the cross, God the Father was not pouring out His wrath on His Son; in Christ’s act of self-sacrifice in loving obedience to the Father, Christ was most lovable in the eyes of the Father. Rather, in Christ’s Passion we humans poured out our enmity with God on Christ, by what we did to Him in His body and soul. And He freely chose to let us do all this to Him. Deeper still, even our present sins contributed to His suffering, because He, in solidarity with us, grieved over all the sins of the world, not just the sins of the elect. Hence, St. Francis of Assisi said, “Nor did demons crucify Him; it is you who have crucified Him and crucify Him still, when you delight in your vices and sins.” The Passion is a revelation of the love of God, not the wrath of God

Christ cannot become sin. His enemy was the sin, he came to root it out. He rooted yet it's roots rots because of our hyperboles and metaphors. It was finished. All mockers are scoundrels and meanials. They don't escape acting pious. It's murdering the life they hide. It's not Christ stall

@@clintmmartin do you take the name of the Lord in vain. In God's blood there is acknowledgement, there is all healing and perfect knowledge of some certainty. Here it's huge people who don't know they hurt. People who just had an opportunity to show off to their gangs or mobs. God only knows. Nothing...God is judge hell is given in the Bible for good reasons for man to still live sane, though the scoundrels mock and live comfortably.
