I live in an area very similar to the Dutch , but much more impacted by global warming. I’m trying to sleep after spending two days preparing to be hit by a hurricane CAT4. All I ever wanted to do in my retirement is paint. So I watch you paint. Thank your for doing this for me.

Beautiful painting! I love it and it gives me a feeling of quietness and serenity. A person can just get lost in looking at it. I think that's a great accomplishment. Thank you!

Stuart, can't tell you how helpful your videos have been for me now more than ever. In Weaverville, NC, north of Asheville. Hit hard with Hurricane Helene, still no water. Other neighbors have it much worse, so can't complain. Thanks for all you do, which I consider to be quite significant. ❤

I’m in the west coast of FL. Exhausted prepping for the storm. I hope the best for you and your loved ones and neighbors.

@sandrabeck8788 Thank you! We're all still stunned i think. Lived here my whole life, watching hurricanes hit FL, other Gulf states, or the Carolina Coast. Would never have guessed my County in the mountains of western NC would have so many dead, and so many homes and businesses destroyed. It's unreal. I'll never think of hurricanes the same way, and never assume the mountains are shielded from the devastation they can cause.

You really are most awfully clever Mr Davies. I am still struggling to get my loose landscape paintings to look vaguely pleasing, there’s no way on earth I could do anything this complex. You’re so lucky to have the gift of drawing and perspective and to know instinctively how to bring a scene together ❤

Another Stuart Davies masterpiece. ! If you want to paint a stone windmill with Sails, there are 2 famous ones. One, the Montefiore Mill in Jerusalem made from Jerusalem stone which is beautiful. The other is Mostert's mill in Cape Town, SA which is part stone, part brick but painted white. Originally had a thatched roof. It is South African landmark which has been the subject of many famous artists. ( You could add yourself to the collection, Stuart) 😊

Hello Stuart, it occurred to me after seeing you struggle to paint sideways..understandable that a Go Pro type gadget might be useful for you. Also they have some kind of image stabilization built in. I have seen some that can be worn on the chest too. I really enjoy your video's and the quiet narration. Thank you, Eve

I just watched a video about turners work.. posted by Daviddunlapsimmonsart. He gets a bit poetic, but really dissects how he painted those landscapes. Makes me wonder if turner worked over his watercolor sketches with oils, to make the finished pieces? I thought you may like the video...

Regarding the vertical rod above the windmill, mentioned at approximately 28:50, it might be a lightning rod. One could see the single tall structure on an extremely flat land surface to be at high risk in a storm.

Dutch windmills were mainly used to pump water for reclaiming land, which is why much of Holland is flat. Yes, I'm annoying. 😁
