Wow Stewart the feature list keeps on growing this DIY project of yours has more features than some of the commercial BMS out there. Looking forward to your next video with home assistant.

Anyway to build with those for an HV battery monitor ? (multiple groups of 16S cells in series, one DIY BMS for each group)

Good job , i love it . Could help us a little bit with the can bus multi controller comunication , data agregation. Meningd and I managed to make it work for 5 min or so , and then stopped. I know you do not fancy high availability , but a little help would not hurt. At least point us in the right direction.

Could I use two 16S all in one monitoring board to build a 32s battery and use the PZEM-017 as shunt? Thank you for your awesome work!
@StuartPittaway
@StuartPittaway 11 ай бұрын
Probably! I've not tested that configuration - can you not stick to a 48V battery instead?
@paytufo
@paytufo 11 ай бұрын
I can use the 16s configuration but my inverter can handle up to 450v and 66A, so with 32s can use the 6.000w that the inverter is capable.@@StuartPittaway

You need to be extra careful once you go over 50V DC, so I don't normally recommend this for DIY users

Very great project. Thank you for that.Will there ever a project addition that let us connect the All-in-board using Ethernet with even a 100Mbps or 1 Gbp connection speed? I really don't like to use wifi for this kind of important devices.
@StuartPittaway
@StuartPittaway 11 ай бұрын
The WIFI is only used for the management interface and non-critical services like MQTT. Actual control of the inverter or charger, should be done via RS485 or CANBUS using a wired connection.

Hi Stuart. Would love to get some of your balancing boards. How can I get them finished. I think assembly maybe beyond my capabilities. Thanks much. Great work btw.

Hey mate, have you added code to support the Sodium-Ion cells now available?
@StuartPittaway
@StuartPittaway 11 ай бұрын
Sodium cells have a voltage range of 1.5 to 4.3V, so should work in a 14S or 15S configuration with the "all in one" monitoring board.

@@StuartPittaway some of the cells available for purchase are only 10AH can the all in one support connection as banks, to increase Amp Hours

@@StuartPittaway Just my question too to use Sodium cell's. Having 230AH cell's in my basket and want to use 16S to get over the 10kWh. To be sure, your comment about the 14s and 15S doesn't mean that 16s is out of the question? I want for each 10kWh bank a diyBMS AllinOne to have more control; but this beg the question; will 4 times 10kWh with their individual BMS works in parallel? And thank you for your work. I did build the first 4 version using Panasonic cell's and they stil working great together. Thanks again.
@StuartPittaway
@StuartPittaway 11 ай бұрын
@@rvamerongen The 16S monitoring board is only suitable up to 70V maximum, so a 16S Sodium setup, could be just on the edge of that limit - 15S is probably a better fit.

can you recommend an ic that can read the charging current and load current, voltage, and capacity or SoC of a lithium ion battery. i want to make a module to estimate SoH (State of Health), and RUL (Remaining Useful Life) which will be used in remote devices and use 18650 2s lithium ion batteries with solar cells to charge them.

Brilliant Stuart. what a project, and improving all the time. Im running a 16s system, any idea of the cost of a all in 1 board complete for my next project? and how much on the all in 1 board is pre soldered by surface mount at jlcpcp. Thanks.
@StuartPittaway
@StuartPittaway 11 ай бұрын
Single boards are probably in the 40-50USD range, but its difficult to get JLC to make smaller batches for that sort of cost. I'm still trying to find an easy (and lower cost) way to sell these boards.

Hey Stuart, great project man! Do you have any plans to make a smaller version of this that is for a 3s-4s-5s-6s configuration? The Bms is quite large at the moment and doesn't fit most my projects, but I wish it did :)
@StuartPittaway
@StuartPittaway 11 ай бұрын
The board already supports 4S configuration (min. 12V) but is really designed for larger setups, like home battery storage where board size isn't really a concern.

Hello, if i can ask a question. I am looking to build a BMS for myself too. I have seen your work, congratulations it is a very good BMS. But i can't use your BMS because of me battery specs: It is a extremely high voltage battery (330S lifepo4 or 280S li-ion) it a 1200V configuration ( i knwo that the average voltage will be lower) I have made some designs, but there are still lot of problems... It must stay very simple ( can not afford making a very expensive BMS, i know that 280S bms will be expensive....😢) About the capacity of the pack ( around 8-20Ah), i dont need monitoring, i need just 3 things: 1- some type of regulations ( can be just 100mA.) 2- some type of information whne a cells is discharged 3- when the cells is 4.2V (li-ion) then end charging. I have some idea, what do you think of them: Idea 1: use a simple BMS design (20s module) thta are connected in series. ( Need more than 10 000 solder points...😢😢 Idea 2: make a 10S BMS with a IC that can work in series. ( Problem with high voltage) Idea 3 : dont use a BMS !!! Use something thzt i call a BIS (battery info System) measuring voltage of the battery and have just regulatos of cells. This way it is extremely simple and cheap. But if one cell go under 3V i cannot see it 😮.
@vladimirsamas3097
@vladimirsamas3097 10 ай бұрын
About the BIS, I will just measure max voltage for example 10S modules, 42V, when it reach 42V it send a message (data) the a mother board that say stop charging, it the voltage go under 30V it say stop using, every cells in the pack will have a resistor and a 4.2V regulator. So the regulations is working, but the vorlage of the cells cannot be know ( just individual 10S packs ( 28 will be in total)

I really don't recommend using such a high voltage battery, it gets very dangerous very quickly especially if you are trying to do safety at a low cost.

@@StuartPittaway i appreciate you opinions, I am new in BMS, I am a student but have worked with 400V battery before so 1200 I know it is not safe... I am now making Gerber files for the first prototype. Finally I have made a design with a ESP32 devkit1. It use ADC channel ( ads1115 via i2C) I use PWM with PCA9685 ) and this way I make a 16S module, they communicate via Octocoplers ... So total 288S 😊

Ohhhh this is exciting. I actually had a fire due to the wifi locking up and the mqtt stopping. This allowed over charge via the grid feed inverter. Extra lockouts added now but yes fixing the wifi would be great.
