Thank you for the video. I began training mma today, and the first single leg variation that you showed, is the one I have practiced today. I'm glad i could find this video. Very helpful, especially when you want to make sure you do it right

the last instruction i remembered is to keep the head peeled on the inside of the leg.... is this variation better ? i remember someone saying that the technique i mentioned is prone to the opponent stuffing my head ?

What's the best single leg to use against a 5'7 person that has about 60 pounds on you
@warriorcollective7 жыл бұрын
That is a pretty difficult question to answer without other details to be honest. What is the ability of this person for a start? I would always suggest just running the pipe to begin with and if that does not work knee tap or ankle pick!

not very mobile or technical, just fat and has mass on me.He Has never trained a day in his life. I have experience in jiu jitsu, muay thai, and karate. I just need improvement on the take down aspect and if I was to get in a fight with him I would like to take him down. And I was just wondering what take downs I should practice against someone his size and with no experience.

A bit late but you don't wanna take the chance to take down someone weighs 60lbs heavier than you UNLESS you have practiced your moves in sparring and have perfected them.

I'd go for an ankle pick personally... because I'm a scumbag....

By doing this the face is vulnerable for punches, isn't better to let your head rest in his side of the body ? At least that's the way i've learned doing BJJ and MMA here.

Not only that, he's exposing his head to sprawls and getting pushed down

Most single-leg escapes start by pushing the head to the side of the body, so you'd be doing the first step of the counter for them. On top of that, he's on one leg, he's not going to have any power in his punches, and you should be executing this quickly enough that you're not taking a lot of face shots and any you do take are glancing at best. You also run a pretty big risk of handing out free guillotines if you put your head on the outside of the body during a single leg. It CAN be done, but it's generally considered to be riskier.
