The blotching is a few possible things: sun damage, sunscreen, color transfer, or a mix of them together. It’s what I normally see on the boats I work with
@bobbygfl9 ай бұрын
It has lightened overtime from regular cleaning. Interestingly enough. I agree with you though I see it all the time and it appears to be inherent to the type of vinyl used

Hi Bobby, its been two years since you did this video, have you seen any degradation to threads or vinyl?
@bobbygfl Жыл бұрын
Zero. Coincidence you are asking now because I just did this last weekend. As long as you take care to neutralize the chlorine there is zero adverse effect. I do this maybe three times a year - I would say at least two times a year here in Florida.

Thank you sir. On another note did you ever have any success with the pink mold?@@bobbygfl

@@DaveMiles-r5s no I never ended up using the stuff that I bought. I still have it unopened. The reason is it Has to sit in the sunlight for several hours after you apply it. Because my boat is under a canopy and combined with the Bimini, I would have to go anchor out for several hours and position the boat so that area gets Sun. Crazy. But the pink mold does seem to have disappeared. I don’t know why, but the last time I cleaned the boat I didn’t notice it.

That's awesome, maybe your method of mildew removal has effected the pink staining. Merry Christmas to you and yours.@@bobbygfl

Mixed the mold mildew remover with bleach and that did the trick for me.

The blotching is the colour dye from wet clothing, cotton especially.
@bobbygfl3 жыл бұрын
Good to know! it's seemingly permanent.

@@bobbygfl unfortunately regular cleaners don’t get it out but I think there must be something that does.

buy a bag of lemons. cut the lemon in half and rub all over the mildew. Wait a few minutes and wipe with a damp rag. Very inexpensive way to get rid of mold that most do not know about. Good video.

These cooties, do they live in leather? I appreciate your detailed approach to any given issue. Cheers!

Thanks! Seems to only be a outdoor vinyl issue. And mainly on white vinyl. Thanks for the comment!

I don't get why it is so difficult to read thru the basics of Chemistry. There is a difference between reduction and oxidation. Combining chlorine with hydrogen peroxide does not help better, but chlorine is able to harm fibers/textile and you have salt leftover. Bleach is the wrong and unscientific household/idiotic term as it covers the chlorine bleach as well as any peroxide based "bleaches". The best option not to harm plastic and to avoid the deposition of salts (in textile and in the foam of the seat cushions) is to rather use peroxide based cleaners. Btw. this is how laundry detergents handle the whitening (not only OxyClean), how teeth whitening is done, etc. Hydrogen peroxide instead ends up to be water and oxygen.
